Oh dear, these poor people. They talk about religion as if they actually knew what it was about. I am a Christian through and through. I have been all my life. I have questioned God's existence. I have been angry at God and not on speaking terms with Him. I have fallen to my knees and thanked Him for the things He has given me. I have sat in the quiet of the night and felt His arms around me. We have had quite the relationship, indeed. What these people don't realize is this: Religion is for people who are afraid they are going to hell. Spirituality is for people who have already been there. I happen to fall into the latter group. With 12 chronic and VERY painful diseases at 37, God and I have had words. I am learning through my diseases what He wants me to know. These people are not to the end of their journeys yet. Let's not be hasty in judging them and throwing our religions right back in their faces. The Bibles says that not everyone will "get it". Maybe these are some examples. The guy at the end cracks me up, though. How can it be evil and a fairytale at the same time? (Obviously he has never had a history class. If you want fairytale, read a fifth grade history book where they teach you that Columbus discovered America. HELLO...there were people called what we call them because we have lack of a better term known as Native Americans. How can somone who lives somewhere have someone show up on their shore and say that they have "discovered" their (the natives') land? And what about Erikson? the Vikings? Didn't they, too, "discover" America? Besides that, didn't the people living in Mexico and Canada probably already know about it, too?....gimmie a break...THERE'S your fairytale.) **sigh** When will people wake up and smell the java? As one of my mortal heroes (Jimmy Buffett) says: "There's sno dumb@$$ vacine." All we can do, my friends, is pray for these people to find some sort of meaning in life rather than the ultimate goal of becoming worm food. C'est la vie. God's peace be with you and with them. Ta-ta.

All these guys need to do is look at a few of the times in western history when God was thrown out with the bath water. The Jacobins of the Frence Revolution, as well as Stalin and his goons and Hitler and his willing executioners all eschewed religion and God in favor of a human vision of life on earth. All three societies in which these forces were dominant resulted in wholesale slaughter. All three societies/nations collapsed under their own weight. Science is the tool and God the toolmaker. What ticks me about these guys is the intellectual smugness and arrogance they bring to the discussion.

Must religious people forget that while religion can give attention
to outward appearance, only Christ can change the heart, the beliefs
and actions of their religion to do what only Christ can do. They
have taken away the key of knowledge by distracting people from the
truth in the word and a right attention of heart by the the unnecessary
additon of denominationally correct traditions and expectations.
Religionists shift the focus to themselves and their rules. They
forget that God doesn't care how much we know until he knows how
much we care.

It is this great "why" that the apostle Paul had in mind when he
wrote, "If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have
not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I
give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to flames but not
love, I gain nothing". Corinthians 13:1,3

I have prayed for these men and i hope they will use their brains to turn around and believe in God because they could do some good work teaching about their belief in God not their unbelief. Please Father help these men to become believers. God knows all of the facts, why do people like these have to have answers to everything. If Jesus had not died on the cross none of us would have hope. I thank God everyday for all he has done for everyone because we always will be sinners.

In His dwelling place in Eternity, G-D remains blissfully unaffected. I will posit that, to many of the Heavenly Host, mortalkind seems about as unlikely as fairies seem to us.

I think the scientists have a point, though; however they speak it without knowing. G-D isn't some thing you think into being. Many of the faithful base their morality on certain unprovable assumptions, & have used -- still use -- those assumptions to justify atrocious deeds. The rhetoric which served to persecute "primitives" throughout the globe into accepting Christ while we robbed them of their future, the same rhetoric which defended slavery & kept women confined to their homes, we now turn against homosexuals, Arabs, atheists -- in other words: the other.

From His dwelling place in Eternity, G-D stares down disaprovingly, because He is Love, & cares nothing for our high-flung theories about the Creation of His Universe, be they scientific of theological. What G-D cares about is Love. If a scientist does his work out of Love G-D will take it as worship even though science calls His Existence into question. If one of the faithful teaches doctrine or rebukes the scientist out of pride, G-D is not fooled. Proper worship is Love.
