It’s that time of year again, when I travel down the road just a bit to attend Michael Moore’s cinematic extravaganza, the Traverse City Film Festival. I will be attending numerous film screenings and panel discussions with celebs such as Larry Charles (“Borat”), Christine Lahti , Phil Donohue, and…wait for it…. Madonna.
Yep, it’s a little known fact that Madonna’s dad lives near Traverse City and runs a vineyard where you can buy Madonna wine. Anyway, due to the local connection and the power of Michael Moore, Madonna is premiering her documentary “I Am Because We Are” here this weekend and I was one of the lucky few to get a ticket. (People camped out for two days to get tickets but I won them in a lottery drawing.)
I fully expect to have a chance to ask one or two questions at these screenings and panel discussions–I am very persistent– and I would love to have Idol Chatter readers be a part of this experience.
So what would you ask Michael Moore or Madonna if you could? Leave your questions in the comment box and I will see what I can do! And look for reports from the festival starting Thursday.

I was wondering, why it is that you approach all of your films in the “Let’s make everything in this movie out to be different than what it really is in ‘real life’”? Because I have noticed that YOUR reality is vastly different than the reality that the rest of the country lives in…Well your’s, and Al Gore’s.

How do you respond to those say you are not a journalist?
Do you feel responsible to take on the greatest issues of our time? For example, what are you doing to remind the Pentagon that they serve at the behest of a civilian-led government, and despite their immense resources, (billions of dollars, millions of acres of training ground,millions of active duty and retired personnel), they are no more than allowed to be. How can millions be killed and trillions spent, under the banner of Manifest Destiny?
Why do you need a dozen attorneys representing you in projects like “Bowling for Columbine”? What do you say to filmmakers/essayists in training who lack those resources?

Hi Madonna,
You have been a mother for a long time now,and seen many things by now,and, being a former teen girl yourself, have pulled many crazy stunts in your time. Well, here’s my question. i have 3 step kids,2 of which, are girls. The girls came to us as a 12 and 14 yr.old,and pulled things on me that should have landed them in a psyche ward,but, I stuck it out,and I am very happy with them now,and have been blessed as a Grandma to 2 of their babies.(one mother). Since we have been through so much, and one, still doesn’t like listening to me,and is back under the roof that has my name on it too, what would you suggest?
My sister says to just ignore her and maybe she’ll just get sick of it. I’m inclined to agree. Do you? And, one more. Are there any plans for new childrens’ books from you? We are expecting 2 more grand babies in February and April,and would love to add your books to their collections. We have 2 small grand baby girls, ages 2 & 6, and 2 on the way. Thank you Madonna.

Good day Madonna, I first off would like to say that your parents winery just outside of Suttons Bay is great. Mr. and Mrs. Chiconi have done a great job in producing a fine wine. My parents acquaintances of them and have had them over a few times for dinner. Very Nice people. Moving on. I have been thinking lately about what I wanted to do with the rest of my life and what I enjoy most and that is to help people in need, especially in Africa. I want to travel to Africa and help in any way That I can and to also make a career living and working with live animals.
