Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith recently announced plans to open a private school in Calabasas, California, just outside of Los Angeles. New Village Academy is scheduled to open in September, and while the couple may have funded...

i will not start this out with confrontation the way some people would. i will simply say that i am amazed that someone like will smith or any of the other people claiming this faith could be so blind. especially when they are all in the position to see first hand what has happened by society trying to take God away from his rightful place. His rightful place is at the very top, the very beginning of any and everything that we have today or have ever had in our past or will ever have in our future. without God our world has changed to a place that we all need to be ashamed of. yes, i said ashamed. i realize that as adults we have to make choices for our children, but i also believe that the children of america deserve some respect also. when we decided to take prayer out of our schools, how many of our children had any sayso into the matter. no, they can not vote, but should they have been asked how they felt about prayer? and who are we that we feel that it is okay for us to suddenly tell anyone, even children, how to serve their God. i am not saying that everyone should be made to say a certain type of prayer. i am simply saying, what is wrong with giving everyone five minutes of quiet time to talk to God or to have a chance for peace within themselves? i do not believe that we would even have a goverment if God had not been first. do you not read and believe your history books? God was all in them, with all of our past presidents, governors, senators, even our farmers who started this land did so with the help of God!! without God not one of us would have any air to breath, any sun to shine, a beautiful rainbow to enjoy? do i need to continue? what i find to be the saddest part of it all is that i truly believe that deep down in just about everyone's heart you do believe in a true and living God. but we, as a nation have gotten so weak that we will not stand up for what we know to be the tryth because of what someone else may say or think about us.we have all forgotten that the only one thinking of us that matters is God and of course ourselves. i feel that the fact that we are no longer the proud americans that our ancestors were is the cause of so much suicide, adultery, murder, rape, and total disregard for our fellow man. how can we care about our neighbors and families the way we shoul when we are ashamed of what we have allowed ourselves to become? and what we have become is a society of people who go along with what we think will make the world happy, while we no longer care about what really matters. and that is makingGod happy and being the the kind if men and women who can hold our heads up high with pride and love for ourselves and others because we know that we are doing all we can to be the true americans that we are meant to be. just like our forefathers did before us when america was on top of everything the way God put us to begin with. we have stopped standing up for what we know to be good and right, and because of that God has allowed us to be what he sees in our hearts, which, if you will admit the truth even to yourself is along way from the kind of people we were years ago. yes, i know the times have changed, but i also know that we are the ones who allowed things to change. would your parents have allowed you to talk to them the way your children do today? do you not believe that you are a better person today because your parents took the time to know where you were, what you wer doing, and spanked your rearends when you deserved it? i know that i am thankful for all the spankings i recieved as a child. probably deserved more than i got. i am also thankful for being taught morals. but i am most thankful that i was taught about God, that i was taught never to be ashamed of my God no matter what the cost. i am also proud that i was taught that if i wanted anything in my life i had to work for it because the world owed me nothing and stealing is a sin that not only hurt God, but it hurt us too, but mostly it hurt the honest people that worked for what they have in this world. i am pretty sure that i have wasted my time sitting here writting this, but if i have reached even one person that is enough for today. what i pray that i have accomplished is that just one of our politicians that can make a difference will see this and it will make them stop everything they are doing as they think of how good things were when we alowed God to be put in the place he belongs and that would be at the very top of everything!!!!!!

Bluntly: who cares? He's no more awakened/enlightened/in-tune than any other person suffering stardomw. Will Smith can follow whatever philosphy he chooses as long as I too am left to follow mine without others trying to force their own down my throat and/or punish me because of their own insecurities.

What difference does it make what religion or no religion Will Smith & wife follow? There is no perfect religion...

teresa d:
You credit an invisible being, you call God, with a lot of things....and think, among other things, that taking prayer out of schools ..public schools (key word..public) has been the cause of some of our problems. First, prayer in public schools is against the separation of church and state...so it was the right thing to do. It has absolutely nothing to do with what is happening in the world. And if a kid wants to pray "in his head", no one is stopping him/her/

I can't address all the things you think "God" should be involved in...as you seem to think that She or He should be involved in everything. IMO, no she/he shouldn't be. This country is secular...it has NO government forced religion....as much as some Christian's seem to try and do. If folks want a government forced religion, there are plenty of countries they could move to...Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia, etc. They believe in God...but probably not the one you believe in! There is no choice of religion there. This country would be in really sad shape if the "Christians" or any other religion decided they knew how to run it. Our freedoms would rapidly die.

All in all, who cares what religion movie stars or anyone else follows or even if they follow any religion? Makes no difference to anyone's life except the individual doing the worshiping or being the non-believer.

I agree with the person who knows God is real. Jesus died for our sins. But I don't understand how no one who argues states what our forefathers who built this land believe in. God is on our money. Somebody put it there. They prayed before sessions and God was in everything then. Don't you see a difference?

Believer and Proud of It!

It looks like scientology is the religion of the rich and those looking for utopia? Will Smith was probally raised a Christian but chooses this instead as it fits his lifestyle

"God is on our money. Somebody put it there." J.Jackson

Yes, unfortunately "God" is on our money. That,IMO, was not a good idea, but then I had nothing to do with it. This is not a Christian nation, but not for lack of trying. Our government is supposed to be secular.

As I said above, who really cares if Will Smith is into Scientology? It is as legitimate as any other religion. Fortunately this country allows free religious belief of the right to no religious belief.

The founder of Scientology performed abortions on his wife with a close hangar.
The FBI has files upon files on Ron Hubbard.
Google it if you like.
He also was trying to create the anti-christ as his son Ron Hubbard Jr. has mentioned in an interview. His son was scared to death of his father.
Christianity & Scientology are nothing a like as Will Smith claims.

As you get into Scientology they teach that Jesus had a microchip implanted in his brain by space aliens.

The Scientology cross is manipulative to trick former Christians or Christians to thinking they are compatible.

Is Scientology any more unbelievable than other religions? No, as some have virgin births, people coming back to life after being killed on a cross, performance of "miracles", angels, babies waiting in "heaven" to be sent to certain parents, a place called "hell" where unbelievers or those that don't behave go, etc. So why is scientology any different?

Will and his wife are getting lost AND dragging their children with them? That is just an opinion on your part, cil. No one's religion is THE Religion...not even yours. IF Will wanted to become a scientologist, how is that a problem for you?

Before saying Scientology is "just another religion", why not look into it?

Google

"Scientology fair game policy"

"Scientology Disconnect"

Scientology "Supressive Persons"

"Operation Snow White"

"Operation PC Freakout"

No one, or hardly anyone, has a problem with Scientology because they believe wierd stuff. Wierd stuff is in and of it's self harmless. Certainly, we don't see mass mobilization against Hinduism, or Sufis, or the B'hai.

Why Scientology? Because they force people to cut off contact with friends and family who in any way "disrespect" - which includes asking questions they find uncomfortable - their beliefs.

Why does Scientology use fronts to teach "Study Tech" instead of just offering it under their own name? I've never seen Mormons sponsor "Healthy Family Classes" under some front organization banner in order to scout converts....and Mormons are certainly in the "believe wacky stuff" club.

Why does Sceintology pay Auditors a commision every time they get someone to fork over some money? Doesn't that sound a lot more like Avon than like a Religion?

Does any other "religion" sue people for accurately quoting their founder? Do Christians claim that quoting a few lines from the Bible is a "copyright violation"?

The FreeZone are break-away Scientologist who believe that audits and all the teachings should be free, and who do not proport to "discipline" or "ethics review" members, who do not go after members who talk about what they know after leaving, and who do not libel and slander and harras those who publicly disagree with them.

FreeZoners believe the EXACT same goofy thetan/e-gram/xeemu stories....but no one messes with them at all...because they aren't out to hurt people and rake in huge stacks of cash from the gullible.

Google "Lisa McPherson" Scientology

Google "Heribert Pfaff" Scientology

This is not just some random wierdness, like people paying for crystal rub-downs or trying to commune with dead relatives. Mere cash scams are a dime a dozen, and fools and their money are soon....

But people are being killed, and families are being intentionally torn apart by this organization, and that's the difference between a religion and cult in any sane system of judgement.

why don't they call it what it is and leave the word religion out of it? it's a cult.....and the Travoltas sent their son's remains up to meepzorp in a space ship and he'll come back as a fielf mouse!

I couldn't possibly agree with David any more. I have yet seen a good, sympathetic portrayl of Scientology, not even from the Scientologists themselves. It seems that the more information comes out about the group, the worse it gets. I really hope that Cruise and Smith get out before the axe REALLY falls. By then, it'll be too late. Their careers would be dragged down with the name Scientology. Deep down inside, I think they're decent people who have just been misguided...

The fact that most of the teachers are Scientologists, in spite on how much they may claim to not promote their "religion", is a red flag and speaks volumes about what the school is about. Since when was Ron Hubbard an expert on teaching and education, other than a few common sense recommendations that most people take for granted - like look up words in the dictionary if you are not familiar with them.

Please! do you really claim to understand Scientology, name one book you've read about Scientology that turned you off so much that you decided to write all this negative scripture. I do not claim to understand Scientology but I do try to keep an open mind, see that's the real problem, unfair judgment, have you ever been judged ? unfairly ? I have, and it hurts, please try to keep an open mind, and don't judge your fellow man, or woman, child. PEACE

Oh no! Please say that Will Smith and Jada have not fallen for the line of BS from the CULT of scientology! I thought they were one of the few normal couples with real talent in Hollywood! Will and Jada-Please get out of it! It's a pyramid scheme at the root, disguised as a religion, someone in there paid off some politicians to be able to be catagorized as a religion when they are not. l ron hubbard was a con artist and he came up with a money making scheme in dianatics. And he got the celebrities into it by playing on the narcissism that most celebrities have (hey you gotta have that to want to have the world watch you and make money doing it-I'm not saying this as an insult of celebs) by stating that celebirties are extra special people or have powers or whatever the exact line of bs was. and it works! scientololgy has the big egos making money for the con artists! Please, Will and Jada, look into the "personality tests" they offer. They have no education or training on REAL scientific tests and measures. Real personality tests and psychological tests, while being developed, take years, are admisistered to thousands of people to make sure the results are reliable and valid. More proof of how it's a scheme: the first "test" is free, everything else after that costs more and more money. Time magazine did a great expose on them in the 90s. It was called the Greed of Scientology or something like that. You can find the article online. Will and Jada, please run away from that cult. They destroy lives, rip families apart and prevent those needing mental health treatment (Tom Cruise is bipolar but he gets to deny it by immersing himself in the cult's un-scientifc quacks) from getting it. They do society a disservice.
