Are you kidding me? This is an awesome video…on opposite day. This video is rediculousness at it’s best. Is this what you call loving your neighbor as yourself? I guess if you don’t start with a love for yourself then you’re up shit’s creek. You are expressing the exact opposite message of Jesus, the true Christ. Did he not call us to be better then he was…was he not God? He’s either a liar or he’s not. I honor your perspectives, even if they are stupid.
Serve one another…the rest is just details.
Wake up!

I’m shock but I’m proud that I know better. Thank God I know who he is thank God I’m grounded in his word. I pray that Opra sees the light. I had no idea that she was so far out there.

About time! The world need a new religion to go along with everything else new in the world. I’m tired of reading that old, corny 2000 year old book.

What the hell? Christians might be opposed to the Department of Peace. Christians know exactly what the other side of eternity is (i.e. Heaven?)
I challenge anybody to take the feeling out of their experience of Jesus or God? Especially the feeling of Love. Try to take the feeling and keep the creeds/beliefs about abstracts like right and wrong. You’ll long for that feeling.
If God doesn’t need anything, why would THE BIG GUY get jealous? Does divinity require us to glorify itself? Oprah was asking reasonable theological questions.
This modern inquisition against Eckhart Tolle and A COURSE IN MIRACLES is gonna be interesting to say the least.
Either way, truth has nothing to fear.
I grew up Evangelical and gave up on the program early in my undergrad. I love more every day and have lost loads of fear and guilt. I feel closer to God/Love (see 1 John… Those that abide in love abide in God.) Gee wiz, I even love my savior Jesus Christ like I never have.
I would encourage anybody to test Eckart Tolle in the sense that the Apostle Paul said we could test the Spirits. If your church doesn’t allow you to explore or castigates you for it; then you’re in a cult.
Eckhart Tolle never says it’s his way or the highway. He’s not out to control.

Many things come to mind…but I am only going to ask a question: why do the makers of this video see a Department of Peace as something wrong and anti-Christian?

In response to Karem’s silly question, let me say that Jesus Christ told the world 2,000 years ago that near the end times, there would be wars and rumors of wars. That is being fulfilled in spades in our very day. There are more armed conflicts going on in various parts of the world today than at any time in history. Twice in the book of Jeremiah and again in Ezekiel Almighty God condemned those who go around crying, “peace, peace when there is no peace.” Thousands of peace treaties have been signed throughout human history, and yet there is no peace.
On the other hand, Jesus Christ said, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27). Of course, He was not talking about political or military peace; He was talking about spiritual peace. That is the inner peace that is possessed by every true believer in Jesus Christ, who have trusted Him as their personal Lord and Savior. It is a peace that completely transcends all the hardships and troubles of this earthly life; it is a peace that cannot be interrupted by bombs and guns; it can’t even be disturbed by false prophets like Oprah Winfrey and Eckhart Tolle. It is perfect peace, and it is available to you right now. The world will wait a long time in absolute vanity for any peace to be brought about by The Department of Peace!

I found that Eckhart Tolle’s New Earth book provides a secular vocabulary for many Christian themes. Rather than heretical, I found it to be both stimulating and useful for speaking about spiritual matters to an unbeliever. My Jewish friend is so deaf to Christian jargon that this book helped create a bridge between us, and a route INTO Christianity for him. This is immensely valuable. Tolle writes at length about human suffering, unlike many “feel good” spiritual books, and quotes the Bible constantly, as if to reaffirm Christian beliefs.
On the other hand, I do understand that Tolle’s book could build a bridge AWAY from Christianity for certain people. Tolle predicts a “new earth,” the ushering in of a new era of peace, but isn’t this precisely what is predicted in prophesies about the end times, an era of peace during which time many will be led astray? Seems to me we are increasingly living in a time when morality is being exchanged for “getting along.”
I am most concerned about Oprah and family values, Oprah talks from both sides of her mouth. She continually praises mothers for having the hardest job… she is unmarried, but presumably in a sexual relationship with Stedman Graham. Recently she said on her show with polygamist wives that she was having “an aha moment” where she realized she could accept polygamy as a “lifestyle choice,” provided it involves no coercion or violence.

Oprah reminds me of Princess Diana in that she is out there doing good deeds and cashing in on the fan worship at the same time, not to mention enjoying unlimited literal cash. It never sat well with me for either of them.
Perhaps the difference is that Diana was angry and somewhat of a victim, while Oprah seems to have her cake and eat it too.

I understand what she was saying about “taking God out of the box” that mankind had put Him in, fashioning him in their own image. He, through Jesus, is Peace (the Prince of Peace). He is too big a presence to be reduced or labelled by words. He is too vast a presence to be belittled or truly understood.
Yes, we should be wary of things which take us away from God, but we should also be wary of the fundamentalist Christians who preach hellfire. This was not what Jesus was about.
I do not believe Oprah is evil. It is good to discuss these issues, and investigate our faith further.

Oprah reminds me of Joel Osteen and his cotton candy theology of bringing to pass whatever promises one chooses to confess from the Bible. If one has the favor of God, as Joel Osteen’s and others’ theology go, then one will have a great bank account, fly first class, have new cars, a bigger house, a great family, and a great job. God, the One from the Bible, is not subject to no one’s request; He is not a genie that carries out people’s wishes. God is sovereign and He answers to no one. The difference between Oprah and Joel Osteen is that one is promoting the law of attraction from a church building and the other from a show studio.

God is not jealous of you. He is jealous of your other gods(i.e. money, food, self-centeredness, porn, laziness, gossip, slander, you get the picture). Those are the things that take you away from Him. He created YOU for HIM. For the relationship, not for the “feelings.”
