So much for “I Wanna Hold Your Hand” and “All We Need Is Love.”
Such messages are apparently lost on “self-styled preacher of hate” Omar Bakri, who–according to the UK Daily Express–has threatened knighted Beatle Paul McCartney that “he will be the target of suicide bombers unless he abandons plans to play his first concert in Israel,” claiming that Sir Paul’s decision to visit the Jewish state’s during its 60th anniversary celebrations had “made him an enemy of all Muslims.”
Another detractor apparently wrote online, “Shame on you Paul McCartney for day trippin’ to apartheid Israel.” That writer vowed never to buy his music again, which I don’t think is really a punishment for the man who’s likely made more money from music than is humanly possible. Perhaps the writer should be himself (or herself) banned from enjoying Beatles music, for his (or her) wiseguy (or gal) insertion of a Beatles title into such a criticism and thinking it’s clever.
To Paul’s credit, he seems undeterred by these threatening comments:
In an interview with Israeli media yesterday he said: “I was approached by different groups and political bodies who asked me not to come here. I refused. I do what I think and I have many friends who support Israel.”
His friends all over Israel support him–I was in Israel when Paul’s Israel concert was announced, and I’ve never heard such excitement about a concert there. Israelis have been looking forward to Paul’s visit for years. (A Facebook event, Paul McCartney in Israel!, sprung up almost immediately after the announcement, and so far 144 guests are “confirmed,” with another 115 “maybes”; and that likely doesn’t even include the fans who are old enough to actually remember the Beatles.)
I’m glad Paul seems so confident in his decision, and having seen some of Israel’s security measures this summer at various events, I’m certain they’ll take the necessary precautions to make sure that the event stays the celebration of musical achievement and legacy that it was intended to be. Cheers to you, Sir Paul; enjoy Israel!

Do not the people of Israel know anything about peace. All they know, if what has been happening for the past 1000 years. Kill kill kill. Paul is a man of Peace. His music is great. People of Israel Enjoy, its a once in a life time event. Put aside your hatred and learn to enjoy music.

Way to go Paul! If you want to go to Isreal no one, or thing, should stop you. I will pray for your saftey, but I honestly believe you will be just fine.

John, it is not the people of Israel who are thinking ‘kill, kill, kill.’ Their desire for peace has never waivered. The haters are from the Muslim, anti-Israel and anti-semitic camps.
This concert is long overdue. Bravo in advance.
BTW, Paul’s appearance in Quebec Canada was protested by anti-english (language) Quebeckers as the wrong performer to help celebrate French Canada’s 400th anniversary.
Politics can’t be escaped, can it?

God has blessed Sir Paul McCartney beyond fame & fortune. He’s always showned an incredible wisdom about everything. Even when the beatles
were together. Even though John was sore of the beatle boss, Paul was always the spokesperson, the diplomat. Not forget that he is a christian, his late mother was a catholic, so is his father and inmediate
family. Like my fellow Beliefner above me states it ; Paul is a man of peace, integrity , wisdom , talent, and courage. God ( Jehovah ) WILL PROTECT HIM AND EVERYBODY AT HIS CONCERT IN THE HOLY LAND. GOD BLESS SIR PAUL MCCARTNET, ISRAEL AND ALL THE JEWISH PERSONS ON THE WORLD!!!!

imagine.. you move someone in your house because they have nowhere to go and then after awhile they start asking you to leave your own home. you refuse. they start to threaten, starve, beat and kill you and your family.
In the bible this land was called Palastine. You know why?? because it is home to palastinians. They were kind enough to give the Jewish people a place to live since they had no country of their own and nowhere to go after ww2 and now they want it all. were are the palistinian people supposed to go??? there can be peace only when greed leaves the picture. that land should be shared. and the Jewish people should be in talks with the palistinians not cutting off water and food.

As a Jew, I am very perplexed that anyone would want to threaten Sir Paul McCartney for performing music in a country that is considered Holy by many religions. Why would anyone want to incur the wrath of G-d who apparently is not very pleased with the way things are being handled down here and has demonstrated this with all the horrific weather the world has had to endure. If one reads the old Testament. One would see that G-d created this land thousands of years ago, freed the Jews from slavery so they could travel 40 years in the desert while learning to trust and respect him. In addition he taught them how to fight for what was rightfully their’s and didn’t even let them in until the next generation. In Hebrew school we were made to view movies of the holocause in WWII so many times, that I finally realized, why aren’t these films shown to the many ignorant people who don’t even believe it happened. May G-d continue to bless Paul McCartney for standing up for his beliefs. If you stand for nothing, you fall for everything.

To whom It May Concern : Imagine the caustically negative press Islam would perpetually stupidly suffer, should any of her horridly more violent zealots successfully manage to dispatch Sir Paul, God forbid. Of course, one must consider the wicked machinations of some of her sympathizers as well. To wit, for the sake of their cause, it is better that the zealous be zealously wise, … for Allah, as we know, has machinations of His own. And this is from whom it concerns.

Imagine if everyone knew any real history. It was called Canaan first and was inhabited by Canaanites and Philistines. Israelites conquered it first and have had a presence there for 4,000 years, longer than any other people anywhere on earth. It didn’t get the name Palestina until 2,000 years later from the Romans. That evolved into Palestine under the last 2,000 years of rule by Byzantines, Persians, Mamluks, Ummayads, Crusaders, Turks and Brits. Religious minorities from Jordan wandered in a couple of centuries ago, approved by the Turks, and took the name Palestinians. So did the early Israeli settlers who were “given” nothing by the locals. They bought useless swamp land and rocky fields and transformed them. Palestine was never an independent state and while the present Jewish residents go back millennia there, only a handful of the Arab residents are more than third or fourth generation. Enjoy, Sir Paul. It is one of the most beautiful, friendliest and safest places I have ever been.

O.K. I don’t understand what all the fuss is about. What is wrong with Paul performing in Israel as opposed to any other country. There must be something I’m missing here. Music is universal, and shouldn’t be political.
Paul can perform whereever he wishes. Shame on the muslims who would “hate” him just because he plays music there! Hate someone like Bin Laden who deserves to be hated, not Paul who has done nothing but give the world the best music that was ever written. Enough said.

To the first poster who said “Imagine…”, you need to get your facts straight. Palestine was not the country’s original name. The original name was ISRAEL. When the Romans expelled the Jews from their own land (ISRAEL), they renamed the country PALESTINE as a gesture of hostility and so that the land will no longer be connected to the Jewish people. So, my friend, calling it Israel is very correct.

To one of the posters — The land was not originally called Palestine. It was originally called Israel, but after the Romans drove the Jews out of their own land, they renamed Israel “Palestine”. This is fact. This is history.

What a pleasure to hear from a man of wisdom and strength…..We are all free people…and can come and go as we please, without needing the approval of the hateful Islamic Radicals….Putting that name and religious is an oxymoron….May you be blessed with a successful concert, long life, and all of lifes’ goodness…

First John was murdered, then George died a little over a year after his stabbing my an assailant, now Paul may really die instead of faking it, due to threats on his life should he visit Isreal. I don’t like the themes here.
Though it could be argued ever since the 1970s that Paul’s been playing crappy song, some of which are religious in nature like “Hope of Deliverance.” I’d like to know what they are objecting to.

Thanks Charlie, Marlene, Nancy, and Debra for writing such “un-PC” truths!!!! It seems nowadays if we write the truth about history/current events and it happens to be ugly and/or unpleasent some people think you are being racist, paranoid, etc. But the truth will set you free, ultimately, even if it has some bitterness learning/accepting the truth. I’m Jewish and can admit freely that we as a people have made plently of mistakes in our past/present when we have strayed away from G-d. The difference is (Jewish or not) can you admit them? Can you admit your shortcomings and try to change for the better by learning from your mistakes?

Dear Paul,
I hoope that you get to read this: The Lord God Almighty, one true living God, said, “I will bless those who bless Israel and I will curse those who curse Israel”;
That’s really all that matters; so you see, it’s still true: All you need is love… because it’s “The Long and Winding Road…
A long time friend/admirer/ and one who respects everything you do.
May God continue to bless you and yours…

Good for Paul! How dare anyone threaten him for visiting Israel. As for “apartheid states”, I believe Saudi Arabia is the country which only allows one religion (Islam), and only Muslims are allowed into Mecca, right? Good thing not many people are interested in visiting Muslim countries, because ALL of them have dhimmi laws. One reason Israel gets this kind of publicity is because many people ARE interested in visiting there. Which is more than you can say for Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Syria, or most other Islamic countries.
