castingcrownspeaceonearthCD.jpgTop-selling Christian band Casting Crowns just released their first ever Christmas album, “Peace on Earth” last week and is already causing a stir among fans. The band is very excited about their new release.
“I want to see people rediscover the worship that Christmas songs have in them,” said frontman Mark Hall. “A lot of times, when we sing carols, we sort of shift into Christmas carol mode–singing songs that we’ve been singing for so long, we might not be hearing what they’re really saying.”
Don’t have the album yet? Well, we have 5 copies to give away. Oh, and did we mention they are autographed by the band?
Want one?
Post a comment below by October 27, 2008, answering the question: “What do you think is the best way to achieve peace on earth?”
Make sure you include your email address in the designated area (it won’t be made public). The 5 best responses–based on the judgment of the Idol Chatter editors–will win an autographed copy of the album.
Please read the legal stuff before entering.

The best way to achieve Peace on Earth is to bring the Gospel on to everyone on Earth, that everyone will be willing to live for Jesus and perform his deeds. since it’s impossible to convert the whole world then the only solution is when Jesus comes back to Earth to reign the second time.

Peace begins at home. What if we all started off by bringing more peace into our families, our friendships, and our neighborhoods? It sounds too simplistic, doesn’t it? Sure, but think about it. Children who grow up immersed in peace and love don’t grow up to declare war on others. It’s children who grow up with trauma, tragedy, and turmoil who grow up confused and angry, and who become tyrannical leaders . . . or maybe just cruel, selfish parents who set up the next generation for the very same failure.
Of course, as we’re helping our own children to know peace and love in the home, we need to help other children around the world whose circumstances are desperate and not conducive to peace. Whether the hungry child you help lives in Mozambique or Michigan, your compassion proves that somebody cares, and also shows your own kids the importance of lending a hand to support somebody who’d fall down without it. Building peace is about taking away someone else’s reason to hate, and too many children around the world have had reason to believe, “They just don’t care about me”.
It all comes down to how we raise our children, though – whether they have a sense that they are valued and beloved treasures from God, or if they only know pain, hostility, and brokenness because that’s all their environment provided. We will create the next generation in our image, so we’d better get set to take a long look in the mirror.

No judging or pointing fingers or shunning others because they don’t dress right or look right, but perceive every single person as if through the eyes and heart of Christ Our King with love and compassion.

Maybe providing a sense of peace
could come from random acts of
kindness. Because they’re free
and particularly done to reward
someone else, seems to me that
random acts are truly “worthwhile”
and genuinely “beneficial”. There-
fore, they serve as a method of
peace-making each time they’re done.

Jesus said ” I am the way the truth and the life… “. He is my standard bearer and because of Him I see people thru His eyes.
Now if more people believed this and practiced it, then this world would have peace. In closing, Jesus also said ” My peace I give you and my peace I leave not as the worlds gives but I give it. ”
That is what I call something to reach for!

Peace first needs to begin “IN” us before it can be shared with others. You can’t share something that you do not have yourself. True peace is not something that can be marketed or made into a theme,it can’t be “taught” or “learned” it is something that must be experienced.

I believe the best way for peace on earth is through prayer. I am amazed and awed EVERY DAY at the tremendous power of prayer. We were given a challenge the other day to pray every day at 1:00 for 1 person, and watch the transformation in their lives. Can you imagine what would happen if every person prayed for 1 person??? I have grown more spiritually in the last year, than I have in the last 40 years – because of the power of prayer – and I thank everyone that has prayed for me. I also believe that teaching our children prayer, and teaching them to “do the right thing”, and reading the bible to them is so very important. They are our future – we need to teach them what the commandments mean, so they know right from wrong. It’s quite a challenge, as I have experienced (and am still experiencing) with my own children. I know it will be worth it!

I saw him standing there just blankly staring into the crowd, our crowd but he wasn’t really apart of us any more because he has seen things we cannot comprehend and so for several moments he is stuck in a place that we only have the knowledge of through the safety of our homes. He has lived through war and that stare is looking into a terrible place, an unsafe place of hurt, and pain, torture, destruction, and great sadness. It’s a stare of shame and shock for everything that he has witnessed but could not stop. It’s a stare of grief for all that was lost including parts of himself to survive.
Now he stands here with us as he has always done before but things are not the same. In his stare he just needs to see you Lord, It will be alright.

The only way to world peace or peace in each heart is to get acquainted with the God who sent his son to spread the message of peace, my peace I give to you, he said, not as the world gives. This peace is only accomplished by coming to know God through prayer, meditation and study of God’s words and taking them seriously. For when God is king in your life and the lives of others then there is peace between individuals which concievably could spread to others until more and more persons were changed to regard the kingdom of God, a kingdom of true peace in each life and eventually the world.

God is getting our attention and we as a nation of people all across the world MUST give God the honor and glory for everything. We need to pray and ask for his guidance in all things. We as a nation think that what we have will always be there, God gives and God can take away. Give God the honor and glory everyday for everything we have. It is only loaned to us, it belongs to him. If we have God in our lives and live each day in accordance to HIS will as best as we humanly can, showing our love, forgiveness, helping others without expecting anything in return, focusing on him all the time, God will bless us with PEACE

What are we doing to share Jesus gift with others. Many people are hurting and need the peace and joy and love that Jesus and God can bring.

What is peace? Peace is a calm sweet stability within your spirit that we cannot achieve within our flesh. This calmness comes by the renewing of our minds with the word of God by reading our bibles, spending personal quality time with God, and the willingness to hear and obey the voice of the Holy Spirit. As we do these things we receive a supernatural peace of God. This peace then allows us to be compassionate and forgiving to those that are in bondage and/or have done things to hurt us. As we show compassion and forgivness to those that might seem as if they deserve it that peace flows from us onto them. This is the key to a working progress towards Go\ds world peace.

Peace outwardly expressed begins with peace inside. Truly the more we understand what we have received, the more we can in turn give away. I believe that is why the apostle wanted and indeed prayed for all of us to truly understand the depth and heighth and breadth of God’s love for us. Life is a journey and a process and no one will achieve perfection this side of heaven however if we can even begin to understand the sacrifice God made because He loves ME (emphasis on the individual) that if I were the last person on earth He would do it all over again, then whatever issue presents to us pales in comparison to that overwhelming love. I recently read a sentence that spoke volumes to my heart. . . not all roads lead to our God, but God would walk down ANY road to find me. When you embrace that love and peace, you cannot help but spread that outward. One person at a time, one family at a time, one community at a time. That is the closest to complete peace on earth that we will ever possess.

The best way to achieve peace on earth is to develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, our Lord & Savior. To do this you must not only study His Word, but also talk with Him, as the scripture says, without ceasing. This will develop agape love, the unconditional love, that God has for each and every one of His creations. When you have agape love, you will have no desire to lie, cheat, steal, covet, do or say anything that would intentionally hurt another person. In fact, there would be a strong desire to do just as we are instructed in The Word – help others, regardless of skin color, where they live, etc. That love & peace would fill the earth, everyone would know the love of God and develop a strong desire to have a personal relationship with Him and THEN JESUS would return!

They best way that I have found to bring about peace on earth is to look within. It is my belief that true peace cannot come from an outside source. As Jesus said, “The kingdom of God is within.”
Love will only abide where there is a desire for peace. When we allow others to influence us in ways which are detrimental, we are asking for turmoil and chaos to reign. Little children rarely do things to try to make themselves look good to others. They do not wear masks and act like they are something or somebody other than their true selves. My motto is “To thine own self be true.” There is a story of Jesus pointing to a child and saying “To such belongs the kingdom of God.” When we humble ourselves, turn to God, seek his face and abandon our wicked ways, then we will have done our part to bring peace on earth and good will to men, women and children.

For there to be peace in the world, first we must start with ourselves by asking ourself what is our demeanor? Do we love our neighbor as ourself? Are we humble? Are we tolerant? In order to be heard we must be examples of what Christ wants us to be. We must be in relationship with him, always keeping him in our daily essence, praying for his guidance and direction. Remembering that it is not our place to judge, as hard as that is not to do, and then to leave it in His hands, in His time…

Peace on Earth is an elusive hope. As Christians, we have a blessing which every heart desires … the love of the One who created us.
Yet, there are ways to advance peace in this age.
1. Learn from the past.
2. Accept the shortcomings of others, and ourselves; i.e., fostering
forgiveness.
3. Give others the ability to feed, clothe, shelter, and ensure
their health.
4. Recognize that Western ideologies can serve as an impediment to
peace.
5. The resources in the world are sufficient to meet everyone’s
needs, if war, apathy, and greed were reduced.
6. Noone is beyond the Grace of God.
For all have fallen short …
This Christmas, let us spread forgiveness:
a) in our families,
b) among our friends,
c) to those who have wronged us,
and we will experience peace.

The Bible plainly states the pathway of life and peace —-is to become “spiritually minded”, living our lives based upon what God has to say about every sitution that crosses out paths.
To become spiritually minded is to become Kingdom Minded!!
Kingdom Minded is becoming dependant upon God, placing circumstances
of life into His hands, through Faith and Prayer.
Faith is a “desperate dive” out of a sinking boat of “human effort”
and a prayer that God will be there to pull us of the water!!
Simply stated “TRUST GOD” with everything.
If we can’t trust our Creator with adverse circumstances we face, how
can we even obtain “peace of mind”?
Jesus tells us in the Word, He will never leave us or forsake us.
He is Faithful!!
Peace is obtainable in the earth through Salvation, heart change, faith, prayer, love, servant’s heart, intercession(standing in the gap) for other people’s needs, and Trusting God with His Word..
BLESSED IS THE PEACEMAKERS!!

Peace on Earth a honorable way of life that we should base our everyday values on three Hundred sixty five days a year, but practiced by few.
Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall inherit the earth.Love thy neighbor as yourself. A kind word, a smile, reaching out a hand for those in need with out expecting anything back from them.
Lending a hand to that desperate cry for help, dropping to your knees to thank God for all your blessings. Not just today but tommorrow, each and every day.Remembering we all sometimes feel lost or in need but, I promise if you look around there is always someone, somewhere who is seeking, lost, less fortunate than yourself.
Thank God for your blessings for true peace comes within ones self. Through faith, understanding of his word.Believing his word but mostly
thanking him for all he’s done and is doing for you.
Be honest with yourself and others and peace will be found for once you’ve found God ,hope is found ,and true peace on Earth begins,
in your heart, your mind and your soul.Be an intecessor for others,
don’t be afraid to fall on your knees, that’s where true peace on earth begins, when we surrender ourselves completely to Christ.
Think about it, would’nt the world be a beautiful place if we’d just surrender all?Bless each of you as you seek true peace on earth. For it can be found if you LET GO, LET GOD!!

I believe that the best way to achieve peace on earth starts with each person. I believe that if each person makes it their our person mission to be more Christ-like everyday we can be one step closer to peace on earth. I have lived my life believing the theory of “pay it forward.” I believe that if I live my life the best that I can the people around me will notice. Once that person notices they usually ask me why I always go out of my way to help people and I simply tell them that I believe that is what Jesus would have done in that situation.
One time I when I was in sixth grade there was a kid that used to get picked on a lot and I used to always stand up for her. It finally got to the point that the other kids started to leave her alone. One of the boys in my class, Jason, noticed that I would always stand up for her and he asked me why I would stand up for such an unpopular person. I just told him that I thought that is what Jesus would have done in my situation. He laughed at me and walked away. Through out the rest of the year when I would help people he would always say “Jesus, huh?” I would just smile and nod. The last week of school I had sprained my knee and I was on crutches and the elevator to my last class of the day was broken so I was struggling up the stairs with my backpack on through the mob of students. A student that didn’t like me saw me and pushed me backwards and stood at the top of the stairs, laughing. I fell down the stairs and my books spilled out of my backpack. The next thing I knew, Jason was helping my collect my books. He was friends with the boy that had pushed me and was the type that would normally stand there and laugh, not wanted to seem uncool because he was helping the person his friend had just picked on. I was a little surprised and just thanked him. He looked at me and smiled and said that he thought it was what Jesus would have done in his situation. The following year the WWJD bracelets became popular in our area and Jason came up to me and asked me if I had started it. I just told him that the Bible tells us to be Christ-like so WWJD started a very long time before I was born. Jason told me that he was still on the fence about the God and Jesus thing, but he did know that when he helped people like he saw me doing, it made him feel better about himself and he liked it because deep down he knew it was the right thing.
It may not happen as quickly as it did back then, but just by me standing up for an unpopular girl, there was one less kid that went out of his way to make fun of other students. It was small, but Jason and I were peacemakers in our school.

Ain’t gonna happen. The Synoptics all mention wars and rumors of wars. The Scriptures are filled with references to war and disagreements among men. Don’t see the Scriptures talking about the social workers of God, but the Army of God, which implies warfare. So, if that is the case, the children of God need to realize that we have been reborn into a Kingdom with a Lord and Master. And in that Kingdom there is peace, even though on earth the conflict rages. Our adoption and inheritance is peace in the presence of the King.

I believe that true peace on earth begins in the hearts of all who inhabit this planet, Christians and non-Christians alike, and by that I mean among other things, the greed that has consumed this country has spread to many other countries,
1Timothy 6:10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs
Matt 6:24 Man cannot serve 2 masters he will hate one and love the…
Ecc 5:10 Whoever loves wealth, is never satisfied with his income
This country has become so consumed with wealth and what I can have, and caring much less for others who share this world. There are many scripture verses will share this same message. I believe this is one of the best ways to achieve peace in this world.

Peace is best accomplished by PRAYER. Speaking to the Lord, listening to Him. Without LOVE, there is no peace. However, that being said, the likelihood of true “peace on earth” isn’t very good. We are foretold that in the Bible – war is an ongoing aspect. The only “peace on earth” we will truly find, is within our hearts. Accepting Christ as our personal Savior and knowing His Kingdom will one day be our home…forever…is what gives true inner peace. This is an individual experience and we know that not all on earth will believe this – thus the impossibility of an entire earth at peace.

Peace on earth could be possible if we all followed/obeyed the two greatest commandments: love God with all our heart, mind, soul, and then love our neighbor as ourselves. But in the end, peace on earth won’t really exist as it should, until the Prince of Peace Himself, our LORD JESUS CHRIST returns. So we can pray as is at the end of the Revelation, “Even so, come quickly Lord Jesus”!

whether the need be big or small, can we be the people Jesus told us to be and then create peace in our own small piece of the world God created for all people. Do for someone whether they ask or not with no expectation of getting something in return. Just as when we were kids and someone would do something to hurt us we would get upset and then forget it and start playing together again. Jesus said we were to walk in love…His love does not take account of a suffered wrong. As the body of believers in Yeshua (Hebrew for Jesus) no matter what denomination we belong to we need to walk in love and look for what we can agree on. Then the world will see God’s love and unity and then true peace will come and Yeshua will return! So let us just start acting like God’s kids and start all playing together in Him!

2.down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.
3.No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him.
4.They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads.

Or a stranger and show you hospitality? or naked and give you clothing? When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you? Hard for someone to be or stay angry at you, be argumentative with you, to persecute you, etc., if you are all the while treating them better than yourself, putting them first and SERVING their needs; and PRAYING for them, as Jesus said we should do. Even (especially) those who despitefully use us. Then leave the rest to Jesus to take care of (others’ ugly actions towards us).

I do not think there will be World Peace until ‘The Lord’s Day’ arrives, (when Jesus set up His New Heaven and Earth). A person can have inner peace, calmness, and love for their fellow man or woman, even though the world is in an array of upheavel. If a person does their best to live by a few of Jesus’/God rules.
All Scripture written is from the ‘King James Bible’
1. Live by the TEN COMMANDMENTS: Exodus chapter 20.
2. THE GOLDEN RULE: Matthew Chapter 7, verse 12. “Therefore all things whatsoeveryou would that men should do to you, do you even so to them; for this is the law and the prophets”.
3. THE GREATEST COMMANDMENT: Matthew Chapter 22: verses 37-40. Verse 37, Jesus said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul and with all your mind.
v 38, This is the first and great commandment.
v 39, And the second is like it, you shall love your neighbour as yourself.
v 40, On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets”.
4. THE ROYAL LAW: James Chapter 2, verse 8. “If you fulfill the royal law according to the scripture, You shall love your neighbour as yourself, you do well”.
5. CHRIST’S NEW COMMANDMENT: John Chapter 13, verses 34-35.
Verse 34, “A new Commandment I give to you, That you love one another, as I have loved you, that you also love one another”.
V35, “By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love one to another”.

Peace on earth? Ah that would be so nice to have right now, wouldn’t it? Jesus is the only one who can bring true inner peace — something any of us can have this peace this very moment and continually no matter what circumstances we face if we turn to Him (see John 10:10 and Philippians 4:6-7). Jesus is also the only one who can bring “peace on earth”, and yet Jesus tells us in Matthew 10:34 and Luke 12:51 that He came not to bring peace but to bring division…Is he contradicting Himself? No, Jesus is telling us that those who don’t embrace Jesus will not just refrain from embracing Him rather they will be hostile to Jesus AND everyone who follows Him, thus there will definitely be ongoing, progressive division (as we see increasing so intensely right now in the media and throughout the world) until the day Jesus returns for us.

The only true way for Peace on Earth to be accomplished is for everyone to remember how Jesus lived on earth, how He behaved, what he taught not only to his disciples but to anyone who wanted to be whole, be one with God. Jesus led the way, he gave His life so that we as sinners could be one with the Father again like in Genesis times. If just one person showed one other person how to be closer to the Father, how to bring Him into their heart, and accept that He is the one true God, to mimic His actions, then we would truly have peace on earth.

We can learn to be more peaceful, like the Lord, by following his laws and following Jesus’ teachings and character. Even with all this, though, true peace cannot come to earth until God brings it in His second coming.
The peace in the song (“peace on earth, good will to men…”) I believe means that God gave us a way to know and bring peace (Jesus). If we want to know true peace in our hearts, we must accept Him as our savior.

Being a peacemaker is truly a gift from God and it does not come natural to most of us.

Peace on earth is an attainable goal. The only true way to attain it is to quit looking to others for the differences that divide us and find common attrubutes that can join us. In any religion, there is a figure that represents pureness and virtue (Jesus Christ, the Prophet Muhammad, Buddha, etc..). This is the number one similarity that we all share. We need to use the examples that these people set and follow their path. None of them practiced hate, war, murder, or corruption; they practiced peace, love, happiness, and unity. For those that do not have a religious preference it should be easy to do what is considered right and respectful to all those that you meet. I think too much emphasis is places on the actual concept and practice of religion and not enough is given to the message that it implies.

Peace on earth will only be made a reality when Jesus Christ sets up His 1,000 year kingdom and then when God will create a new heaven and new earth. I don’t think it is peace that we need to strive for, it is not what is important. We should help others and reach out to all in need but that is so that the Glory of the Lord will be shown. The most important thing we can do is to love others as God loves us and to put others needs above our own. Die to self, Live for Christ and speak His word. That is the best way to strive for peace and in the end only God can give true peace. There is no peace because we are self centered, selfish beings who only care about ourselves. Often even when we do things that seem unselfish, we still often have selfish motives. Only through Christ Jesus will peace be attainable.

Love one another, do whatever you can for someone with what you have, even if it means giving something up or doing without yourself. The world doesn’t revolve on “I” or “Me”, in my world anyway. The people in this country say they want peace, but it seems as if only we Christians are the only ones that have it & try to create it for others. I believe that we Christians should look at ourselves as equals and not look down on the world as if we are better than the non-believers. Peace will be attained on earth if Christ followers plant a little seed every day. Seeds of understanding, seeds of self-sacrifice, seeds of non-judgment, seeds of listening, seeds of embracing – with our arms and our hearts. Then when those seeds start to grow, we water and tend to them carefully, all the while planting more. With God love shining down on our little saplings, they have no choice to grow until soon the whole world is shaded and kept cool by the majestic trees that are on every continent, every country, every city and in every heart. I don’t care about the Christmas Cd, but if even one person that reads this is inspired to grant forgiveness or listen to a friend or do ” the right thing” when it is so very hard to do, I have “won my prize.”

Even though I am an avid believer in Christ and believe that only by the grace of God can we be saved, I know that I can’t force people to accept Christ too. Peace is made by being willing to accept others despite not liking their choices. I can live in peace with those around me by, once having shared my testimony and God’s word, being a friend to anyone regardless of their choice. My responsibility is not to change people – that’s between them and God – but to love them. In this day and age, peace on earth is made by accepting that responsibility. When Christ returns, peace will again be what God meant it to be, just as our relationship with him will again be what he meant it to be. Until then, loving our enemies and doing good to those who hate us – Jesus said it – are the best tools we have for turning the tides and working toward peace on earth. Even the secular Christmas movie Miracle on 34th Street makes that point.

Getting back to the basics, and realizing that as children of God we cannot attain anything without his spirit guiding and instructing us. We are to live as Christ did and show love, mercy, and understanding for everyone. We need to get back to our first love and walk in the principles that have been given through the word of God. Breathing a refreshing new life into the troubled times. As individuals we can start right where we are and show the unconditional love for one another. It will spread if we all remember who created us and why. We need to know we are ambassadors for Christ. All we have to have is the faith of a mustard seed and believe that ALL things are possible. It just takes one person showing the love of God to change nations. God can and will work through his people to spread the gospel. He is the Great I AM and nothing is impossible with him. Peace starts with oneself and then spreads. It is and will be contagious.

The rest of the world would tell us that the best way to achieve peace on earth is to accept others’ religions and embrace our differences, yet most of the wars ongoing in the world today are based one religion versus another. Is there really such a thing as a “holy war?” It is man’s struggle for power, greed and desire to impose his own will on others that creates the divisions that end up in war. While we should never hate those who oppose us, we must hate the evil that comes from them, and continue to share God’s love, joy, hope and peace by being a living, daily example of Jesus Christ. For after all, He is the Prince of Peace.

I recall the “Peace on Earth” because a Saviour was born. To find that peace here on Earth today will only be found when Jesus returns for the believers (the born again Christians).
