I’m just going to take a wild stab at this for the sake of sanity, seeing how this supposed be a faith-based blog with a Jesus-loving slant…
Your tongue was planted in your cheek when you wrote that wasn’t it? Hilarious? That? OK, joke’s over. Go back to loving God and not thinking mock crap like this is cute.

Great parody of Leno.
And perfectly capped by Peter’s last line, “This guy’s gonna be HUGE!”

Yeah okay. I watched the whole episode. Absolutely awful. Nothing redemptive at all. No help for inquirers, searchers, or followers. Not even thought or conversation provoking. Excellent job of mocking, demeaning & slandering the best human who ever lived, the best messiah who lived again. I feel gross and de-moralized. Why would beliefnet promote this? Did you even watch it before putting it on your site?

Wow…..I can’t believe that this awful and demeaning item would be posted on Beliefnet……this is the site that I go to daily for inspiration on the web…..this was incredibly belittling to my Lord and Savior and an insult to all Christians worldwide…..whoever allowed this to be part of this site should be reprimanded…it belongs on Satan’s site…..not one professing to love our Lord!!
And yes, I did watch it because I really thought it would be a positive promotion of our Lord Jesus Christ……I am extremely disappointed in this choice of advertising….
May the Lord Jesus be with us all and continue for forgive us for our sins!!!

It’s sad that we live in a Western world (that was once pious)that mocks everything religious. I’m not Christian, but I truely believe that the West has no regard for God or religious beliefs at all. It doesn’t matter if it’s Jesus, Islam or other religions- there’s just no respect for God anymore. Christans have all the right to be offended by this appearing on Befiefnet; the piece should be pulled.

The episode in question was classic Family Guy. I’ve seen better overall episodes (e.g., their Star Wars episode) but the arc about Jesus in this one was pretty good.
With the understanding that Family Guy is a comedy and purposely pokes fun at EVERYTHING, I’d like to hear exactly why some Christians found it “offensive”.
Remember, comedy makes fun of politicians, celebrities, political parties, world leaders, and so on all the time. Have you heard the one about “the Priest and a Rabbi walk into a bar….”? Atheists, including Dawkins were severely skewered on SouthPark (google “South Park Does Dawkins, video”) and everyone pretty much agreed it was funny as all hell. The world makes fun of Scientology, snake handling, voodoo, and that whole 72 virgins thing all the time. Should we write letters to protest all comedy that is critical of any religion or lack of religious belief?
I do wonder if some of the above reactions stem from underlying issues and insecurities people have with their own beliefs. Plenty of religious beliefs are on shaky ground (come on, admit it!) and people don’t want others to rock their boat.
So, what statements or bits in that episode were specifically offensive (if any) and why?

I agree with Dave. I’ve watched plenty of Family Guy and they have never said anything negative about Jesus in the show. The usual joke is that they present Jesus as a regular guy which may be why so many hard line Christians are so easily offended.

This episode is so funny. I could watch it over and over again. And for all those people having a sook about how they poked fun at Jesus, get over it. This is Family Guy! they make fun of everything! And I am very sorry Sandi, but what you wrote was a load of crap :( … there is no “Lord” the closest thing we have to a “god” is the sun, which will be gone in time, and the earth along with it.. Life doesn’t have a purpose, otherwise people would live forever and ever and ever until it was completed :) if someone can please come forwards with SCIENTIFIC PROOF that there is a “god” then i will automatically believe, otherwise… Christians and other religious people are believing the word of people living in a dream world.. i am not putting down the way people live their lives, i am pointing out the logic.
Family Guy is the best show on T.V. :)
