Although many people will probably laugh off reports that actress/singer Jessica Simpson is interested in returning to college to study theology, as reported by Marie Clair via The New York Post’s Page Six, religion has always been a part of the blonde bombshell’s roots.
In addition to being manager to Jessica and sister Ashlee, their father Joe is a Baptist minister. Their mother is a former Sunday school teacher. And, Jessica got her start in gospel music–she was signed to a Christian label as a teen and recorded an album, but the label went under before it was released. Jessica then released it herself. She was eventually signed to Columbia Records as a mainstream artist (she was pitched as a Christian recording artist, but the label decided not to go that route).
Personally, I think it’s great that Jessica is “contemplating” taking a course in religion. What I find a bit sketchy, however, is that she’s been influenced by the popular fiction novel, “The Da Vinci Code.”
“I remember whenever the book The Da Vinci Code came out, the Discovery Channel did this three-night piece on it that I Tivoed and then watched eight times,” Jessica told Marie Claire.

I say, good for her. I applaud her for taking interest in spirituality. This shows she’s got more depth than suggested by her “brainless blonde” image.

Perhaps she can start her religious course by setting a better example for young girls. She is usually wearing low cut outfits and chasing men. Also wearing a shirt that says “Real Girls Eat Meat” is an awful thing to do. She needs to live her love of religion and not just study it.

Coloradogal– Not to start a vegetarian vs. meat-eaters war here, but Jessica wearing a “Real Girls Eat Meat” shirt has absolutely nothing to do with being a good role model. She has every right to wear a shirt like that–and to eat meet– just as vegetarians have the right to wear “meat is murder” shirts. If you want to bash negative celebs for their poor example, you may want to look to those who take drugs, get into public brawls, etc.

Are you sure “Real Girls Eat Meat” is even a reference to food?
And call me cynical, but methinks this is yet another attempt to revive a career that never should have started. If Jessica wants to find religion — and can even spell it — more power to her. But religion is a personal matter because left to the individual, not the publicists.

She is the biggest joke. She is not going to take a class or do anything like that. she is full of hot air. she will say anything and do anything for publicity.

I am more disturbed by her being a PK (Preacher’s Kid) than by her watching the DaVinci Code. I find it amusing that most of the comments (so far) have been critical of Ms. Simpson.
In this season they celebrate the incarnation of their God so many Christians are so judgemental and condemning. Kinda sad.

Great for her! The DaVinci code should be supplemental research but she should read Josh McDowell’s book on the DaVinci Code first!

Does she realise the HOLY GHOST, spiritual consciousness. ADD Davince method will make her realise what’s missing.
