'Angels & Demons' Causing Catholic Stir (Again)
Categories: Books,
Movies
I'm sure Dan Brown must be used to coming under attack from Catholics for his pulpy, page-turners and the nearing release of the film version of "Angels & Demons" is no exception. The Vatican banned "Angels & Demons" from filming...
It's just a novel, a fictious work of literature, take it the same you take all fiction novels, or don't read them.
This Catholic has chosen to not purchase, read, review or in anyway support Mr Brown and what I consider to be his tripe. I also believe he has every right to do what he does.
"Me thinks thou do'st protest too much!"
Perhaps the RCC representatives are hoping to give the movie and extra boost of publicity. That is all their comments are doing. The only bad publicity is no pubicity. They are violating that principle by pouring gas on the fire. You woud think they would learn after a while.
I hve no intentions of reading his book or seeing the movie Mr Brown has every right to write and believe whatever he wants, the way its my right to consider his work garbage.
is this garbage too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XP_ZMksgshI&feature=channel_page
ok, i dont know much about christianity, but i feel its just a novel. he shud write what he likes, BUT HE SHOULD MAKE IT CLEAR IT'S FICTION NOT FACT. personally, i LOVE his writing. he's incredibly talented and all this contreversy just shows how gifted he is, that people actually take his work seriously.
HOWEVER, i cannot blame the church for condemning his works if they genuinely believe the works to be false and if Brown doesn't have the decency to clarify that its not intended as factual.
the same way, the church has the right to ban filming within their perimeters.
Its just a movie. This donohue guy has to realize that. Not in any part of the book and im sure the movie as well, do they say that this whole book is based on true events. He isnt lying, hes just making an interesting plot to an already great story.
