Actor and “Achy Breaky Heart” singer Billy Ray Cyrus has seen a resurgence in his career, thanks to daughter Miley Cyrus, who stars in the Disney Channel series “Hannah Montana,” where she plays a girl leading a double life as an average teen and a famous pop singer. Billy Ray plays Miley’s dad on the show and the duo also star in this Friday’s “Hannah Montana: The Movie.”
Billy Ray, whose new country album “Back to Tennessee” just released on Tuesday, recently spoke to Beliefnet about his Christian faith and what he wants for Miley. He also spoke passionately about the lack of faith in Hollywood:
In Franklin, Tennessee where we’re from, there’s a lot of faith around, a lot of light. A lot of people have read the Bible. [Faith is] part of your life, part of the community. And you know what? [With] all due respect, in this world, it’s just hard to find a lot of light here in Hollywood. …The harder we worked to represent the light and be positive, the more the forces of evil and darkness would come in to try to put out that light.

The latest Miley video is absolutely a shame and disgusting. I refuse to let anyone I love either listen to her music or watch those videos. She looks like a young Madonna, disgusting! We need to stand strong against the evils of Hollywood, for those there to see the light. We cannot be influenced by the darkness and become part of it. Is the money and fame worth our integrity and values? I always hoped that Miley could be a role model to our young girls. We will continue to pray.
