Susan Boyle’s Makeover

posted by dross | 2:29pm Friday April 17, 2009

As was to be expected, now that overnight singing sensation Susan Boyle has won over the hearts of the “Britain’s Got Talent” judges–as well as almost anyone who’s seen her performance–many are speculating that the show’s producers are going to give her a makeover for the rest of the show.
In an interview with CNN’s “American Morning” today Boyle refused to say whether she’d take them up on the offer.
Nevertheless, thanks to the wonders of Photoshop, Boyle has been given a virtual makeover on the website DailyMakeover.com.
susanboylemakeover.jpg
Personally, I’m digging the second look, where her hair is layered, her eyebrows are thinned out, and she has soft, subtle makeup. Maybe if the 47-year-old adopts a look like this, she won’t have to wait too much longer for her first kiss.
What do you think about the new looks? What would you change about the new singing star? Or, do you think she looks great just the way she is? Post your thoughts below.

I don’t think it’s a terrible thing to make oneself look a little better with a good haircut and some makeup. If it were, the cosmetics companies and fashion world would go out of business wouldn’t they. I agree with Ms. Boyle’s statement that too much of a makeover (something along the lines of a Hollywood cookie-cutter idea of a singer) would be false and would detract from her lack of pretension and her incredible voice. But a nice haircut and some makeup — why not?

I think a nice haircut is in order–I prefer the second one, but it can be simple, attractive, and something she can easily handle herself from day to day. She needs a nice dress as well. Lipstick is up to her. For her health–and 47 is a good age to get with it– I would recommend tasty, healthy weight-losing diet like the Shaklee Cinch program. Surely she’d welcome the “healthy naturally” program.

Being old to most of you, I think Susan was the most fantstic person and not afraid at all walking on that stage. Could not get over the reaction of the young audience tho. Susan was very confident and boy did she surprise everyone. When I saw her on Fox News the Bill and Megyn show at 9AMEDT I had tear’s in my eyes. What a voice God has given to her. Also believe that “if” they do a makeover, if she want’s it, the third one would be great due to the partial bang’s. She has a high forhead and need’s them. It makes her look somewhat younger and if she allowed her eyebrow’s thinned a little bit. Other than that here’s hoping that they will let her be herself you know. She has that God given voice and she should not be herself not someone she is not. Man would I love to hear her on an album. What say ya’ll?? Judy

Why on earth should anyone suggest what haircut they’d like to see on another person? Susan Boyle is perfect and beautiful. If she wanted a different haircut, she’d likely have one. As for her eyebrows…. how shallow to suggest that she needs to thin them. Perhaps she already eats a healthy diet. Some of us are not thin and never will be. There is no one way to be beautiful. True beauty comes from within, and when Susan opened her mouth to sing she showed he world what a beautiful woman she is.

A lot of people have no real concept of how they appear to others. Creative people are especially that way. When folks hit middle age, unless they have honest friends or stay up with the latest hairstyles and fashions, they don’t really change. They get used to looking the same day after day. If that look happens to be “dowdy”, then that’s too bad, no matter how great their personality is. “Dowdy” simply is not necessary. Please don’t excuse looking frumpy by saying “she’s perfect just the way she is”, ’cause she could look a whole lot better! I vote for makeover number three.

I can’t wait to hear her 1st album. That voice should be heard all over the world. I couldn’t believe my ears. where can I hear her sing that song again? But if she doesn’t want a makeover, she don’t have to have it, her voice alone will carry her to fame. I’m 69 years old, whatever she wants, she should have.

There is NOT one single person on this planet earth who is perfect in anyway, shape or form including (what I saw) was the young female in the audience when the camera panned and she rolled her eyes at Susan. I then thought what a little snot you probably are. (See, I judged her) If you or anyone were so totally perfect you “might” be sitting at the right hand of God-Almighty. Take a good look in the mirror people. Susan Boyle whom I thought (yes) looked a little plain, possibly she could have fixed her hair a little bit, but what came out of her mouth was simply extraordinary and awesome. She was wonderful and I hope she WINS! When we learn to really “love” ourselves, we will love everyone else not matter what.

We all know someone that, when they open their mouth, something entirely different than what we think, comes out and we are suprised. Everyone has a talent that God has given us, Susan’s is singing. She has lived, listening to what she tells British Idol, her life, sure of herself, but modestly and humbly, but happy and content. Then this woman opens her mouth and the beauty envelopes anyone with ears!!! Looks DON’T mean everything, but certain aspects of Susan’s appearance suggest a visit to the doctor is in order. Her appearance is typical of women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), which can place her at creased risk for heart disease, hypertension, and diabetes:

And, Susan ought to look like SUSAN. Shedding a few pounds and tweezing her eyebrows would be makeover enough, IMO, unless SHE HERSELF wants to be made over — and if it’s her idea, then that changes everything. In that case, I say, let the sky be the limit!

Tom, I think there is nothing with improving ones looks, not only for the world in which she will be competing, but for herself. The old look is outdated and that is why there are hair salons, nail salons, barber shops. Everyone updates and that is a good thing. I like photos 2 and 3 and believe they are complimentary and do not challenge the inner beauty of anyone to update and improve. I think she will find someone also who might be attracted to her and opportunity will be forthcoming on more avenues. Go for it! I think it will make her feel really good about herself and that is given; a gift of a beautiful voice is a plus to add to the mix. Good show!

She may be plain out side but she is beautiful inside. Why must we find imperfections and try to change everyone? I say what ever Susan is comfortable with is fine. Why should “we” alter a person’s appearance….that voice is still in her no mater what we change. Hearing her voice gave me goose bumps, it is so angelic. Thanks Susan for sharing your wonderful talent.

I would say no makeover, but a little helping hand to make general improvements, like tips for the everyday woman. There is no need to look like a model – your voice is what matters most as a singer.
For some reason look seems to be more critical for woman than for me. But look for yourself Elton John is not someone to admire in look, but he’s famos…why? Because of his music! Did he ever get a makeover? Doesn’t seem so

Susan Boyle will have to get a complete make-over if she is serious about becoming a Music Artist. I say this because unfortunately, if one wants to be taken serious in the Music Industry, they have to have an image to go along with their great singing voice and anything less takes away from them gaining popularity or growing fans who love their music. In order to sell Music Albums, you have to have lots of fans, and you won’t gain much fans, if you don’t have an image that people are attracted to. That’s just how it all works. Do you think many people would have taken Taylor Swift very serious as a Music Artist had she not been so darn cute and pretty as well as a great County Music singer? She had behind the scenes help in making her image one that would attract the fans.

I hope she gets an album soon. I WANT IT! Beautiful!

She is beautiful just the way she is. No need for any makeover. It’s time we stopped trying to make people fit into society’s definition of “beautiful.” What is more beautiful than this sweet, unassuming woman who does church charity work, and who has waited over half a lifetime to give the world the gift of her voice? She has the voice of an angel, and a soul to match. That, my friends, is true God-given beauty.

“In order to sell Music Albums, you have to have lots of fans, and you won’t gain much fans, if you don’t have an image that people are attracted to.” Apparently, she DOES have an image people are attracted to. The YouTube video of her performance has gone viral. Yesterday I was over on Facebook. A fan group for Susan already had over 1,000,000 members and was rapidly growing. The comments, nearly all of them positive, were coming in at the rate of every four or five *seconds*.
She has the fans. She’ll sell the albums. As Piers said about Simon to Larry King: “He’s in Hollywood, and I think it’s fair to say his eyes have been going ka-ching ever since Susan’s performance, because Simon is a businessman, and he knows music, and he knows he’s got somebody with an extraordinary voice, and this global phenomenon going on around her.”

Susan Boyle’s beauty lies in her soul. Her voice is heaven sent and if she really wants a make-over, that’s fine, but she is beautiful just the way she is. Why can’t people except you the way you are. Whether she is physically beautiful shouldn’t have any bearing on her selling her awsome voice. God Bless her for who she is.

The comments I’ve read from some of the women are utterly rediculous!!
Such liars they all are, i’ll bet not one of them would be caught dead outside their house without makeup, or at least looking as though they tried to make themselves presentable “according to societies standard” of basic public acceptance. I agree that if someone is comfortable as they are, change should not be forced on them, but an artist has to sell an image with the music, packaging is part of the sale.

I am left in a stupor that this question is even being asked. In fact i am disgusted and for a brief moment in my life actually at a loss of words. Has humanity seriously come to this… obviously. For once we see a talented individual on television who is incredible, who is kind, and who has a greater singing talent than half(probably more) of who we call “stars”. The vast majority of us support and look up to people who are fake as hell, who get payed hundreds of thousands, even millions of dollars to walk down a runway or run down a field with a ball in their hands. Who, at the same token could be high school dropouts, womanizing wife beaters, and shallow, cold-hearted beautiful because they are fake or have money individuals. Now, who is making little to no money: teachers, mentors, volunteers, people who work for the UN to carry messages of peace and hope to the entire world, members of the military who give their lives. We talk about issues facing society today with such concern and question when it is us who need only open up our ignorant shallow eyes and look in the mirror to find the answer. We exhibit such strong opinion and concern over topics like plastic surgeries, anorexia, bulimia, substance abuse, debt, and even suicide. Why, because little girls and boys are growing up thinking that they have to be and look a certain way( obviously being reinforced by this public example). We fix our noses and breasts because thats what is in the magazines, we turn to anorexia or bulimia, or even cocaine and meth because we are supposed to fit some ideal image put forth by …..us! We spend outside of our financial means because we get praise for having the newest and best of things. We kill ourselves because we don’t feel like we are good enough for the rest of the world. And the moment, the moment someone comes on to the television with genuine talent and heart, what does this country do… we say they’re not good enough, we have a flippin (can’t say the other word)vote over the looks of someone who we don’t even know, a vote!? We push when the person says they don’t wan’t a makeover and we don’t accept that. We cant accept that it’s ok for someone who we don’t think looks right to feel good about themselves, we cant let it alone without question. We should look at this woman as admirable, and as a positive example, because to me she is admirable. I am a person who has been a drug addict and has overcome. I have had friends who are drug addicts, who are bulimic, irreversibly injure their body, die, commit suicide, friends who just started out because they wanted to lose weight. I have judged myself and my body because i didn’t think i was good enough, and i still have self confidence issues. What could change if we accepted everyone regardless of looks, color, sexual preference age, everything we hold so highly today, if from when a child was young we could just tell them that they are beautiful and wonderful just the way they are. I know its a long shot but we could actually have a better world, a more decent world with love and tolerance, and acceptance. A world where everyone could say “I’m ok with me.” One can dream right.

Everyone wants to look their best and some of us need help to do that but we also usually need money, If we’re talking a better hair cut or better makeup I say go for it If we’re talking anything more I say leave the lady alone she is a beautiful lady just the way God made her.

DailyMakeover’s idea behind Susan Boyle’s makeover was to empower her to be exactly who she wants to be! If Susan decides she is happy with the way she is, then by no means should she change it. The makeover was not to conform her to pop culture standards but to let her decide what she wants to look like, if she wants that opportunity. DailyMakeover wants to empower women to be who they want to be, and not be afraid to change their look.

For anyone complaining about her new look, shut up and get on with your own life. clearly you need something extra to do in your spare time if you can expend the extra effort needed to plan a woman’s life for her! so be content to listen to her beautiful voice and if you really can’t stand how she looks just close your eyes!

Susan Boyle’s got a real talent. Maybe nobody noticed her hidden talent since 12 years old or given proper exposure unlike what she is getting now in this Britain’s Got Talent show . She got the right time now and found the right place. Maybe make over would enhance her talent at the same time in overall personality outlook. She maybe also not given the treatment she got now due to her looks before but the homebody look when she sung the song I dreamed a dream that catapulted her international stardom. Anyway, she got already the dream she has dreamed and that is not a question. Congratulation Susan …Amanda is right ..a wake up call is done.

Susan is already Susan! Changing her hair and clothes and anything else in her appearance can only make her better. It will increase her self esteem and confidence on stage! Why shouldn’t she get an expensive make over! She’s a woman, all women want to be attractive. A makeover can’t change her talent. Her life is about to change, actually it already has. She is going to be in the public eye a lot more. Why should she be criticized for wanting to put her best foot (look) forward? The public would love her voice no matter what she looked like. She touched our hearts. That’s all a true artist can ask for. In my mind that makes her a winner. People just want her to stay dowdy so that they can say that they love her no matter what she looks like and make themselves feel better for not, on this one occasion, judging by appearance. Guess what, too late! If it truly doesn’t matter that she’s dowdy, it shouldn’t matter that she’s beautiful on the outside.
