Miley Cyrus Pledges to Remain Virgin Until Married

posted by dross | 2:00pm Tuesday May 5, 2009

mileycyruspicforic.jpg“Hannah Montana” star Miley Cyrus has had her share of controvesy over the past year. Cyrus, now 16, posed for what some called “too sexy” photos for Annie Leibovitz and Vanity Fair back in 2008. Plus other personal photos of her baring her bra and panties have been leaked onto the web. Then there’s the whole, she’s a teenager dating a 20-year-old thing.
But Miley and her family are also Christians and believe in abstinence until marriage. And in a new interview with the Daily Mail, Cyrus said, “I want to keep my virginity until I marry” citing her Christian faith as a reason.
Now, we all remember hearing those same words from pop star Britney Spears, and it was later revealed that she did not carry through with her vow. So is this all a ploy to keep her more wholesome fans? Or is it genuine?
In a recent interview with Beliefnet, Miley’s father Billy Ray Cyrus said, he and Miley try to represent the positive in Hollywood, but they more they do that, the more evil and darkness tries to “put out that light.”
Billy Ray also said:

Miley gets up and wins an award and thanks Jesus, because it’s who she is and what she believes. She’s been reprimanded a few times for that from people in the business, saying, “What are you doing?” Can you imagine how much joy it would bring to the devil to see Miley just do something really stupid and all these kids around the world that she’s represented such a positive force to just taint it with something stupid and ruin it? There’s a lot of forces that would like to see that happen. But we pray.

So, what do you think? Will Miley keep her virginity until marriage? Or is it just something she said to help clean up her image?

Time will tell. She seems to be well supported by her family so there is a chance. However she is still young.

Yeah right. I give her about two year at most. It is a nice thought, but totally unrealistic.

Whether she does or doesn’t is really not an issue. She should have kept her mouth shut about it because now there will be no end to the number of people trying to prove she is a liar.
And in this modern world, abstinence until marriage is unlikely, show biz, and real life.

There are a lot of temptations out there, and Miley shouldn’t feel bad about herself if, somewhere along the line, these plans change. She’ll still be a beautiful soul.
Peter said that he would never deny Jesus, but he did before the rooster crowed–and felt horrible about it.
But what did Jesus do? He made Peter the rock on which He built His church!!!
Having said this, I hope that Miley DOES manage to go through with this. I’ve taken the same kind of vow and I’m old enough to be her mother (or even her grandma). Susan Boyle is another great role model. Here are some of those who have been out in temptation’s path who have made it: Donny Osmond, Marie Osmond, Debby Boone–and there have been others, too, but those three come to mind.
My folks waited for each other–and, afterwards, enjoyed just short of 57 wonderful years of the rest of their marriage.
In short, losing your virginity before marriage doesn’t ruin you, but it’s still a very wonderful goal to strive for, and I’ll be keeping Miley in my prayers that she’ll be able to carry this through!
You go, Miley!!!

I really hope she does stick with it. I was SO glad Jessica Simpson did! Since it was a family thing with them to take that vow, I was saddened, but NOT surprised that Ashley Simpson threw her virginity down the drain…And it’s no surprise that Jessica is more blessed. She’s prettier and actually has TALENT! I absolutely believe God gives ENORMOUS blessings to those who keep the law of chastity. I think it can be the most difficult one for people to keep, and thus reaps great reward for keeping it. And I do NOT think it is “unlikely” that it can be kept. I don’t know about her personally, but as long as her faith is strong enough and she asks God to help her with it, she can definitely keep with it, EVEN if she had a boyfriend who was not in support of it, anything is possible through God. ANYTHING! And while there will be many hoping to see her fail, all the ones who support her will VERY likely be PRAYING that she is able to keep it…and THAT too will help it all work out for God’s great plan. So I pray that she does keep it, because I think it’s worse to make that vow and break it, than never make it at all. I am 24 years old, and I will be the 40 year old virgin if I’m not married by then…AND I’ve already decided that if I am not married and I still want to have a child, I will get artificially inseminated, then I can be the Virgin Mother Larysa. May God bless you all :)

well what can I say about that? Sure I agree with what she said. Keeping your virginity until you’re married is a special thing. I am also a Christian and I value this-said-by-Miley. The world is full of temptations and what we gotta do is to pray and be strong in our faith. If she is sure about this and will be committed to it, then I hope everything wiil just go just fine. I can’t say this isn’t true because as a college girl with lots of dreams, I am going through the same process: already have a soulmate so I am committed to this saying. I pray every single night and that also helps me to be strong and brave and committed to my dreams. As christians believe, we wouldn’t be like this today if it wasn’t for HIM. Anyway, you go Miley with your dream. I have faith in you. But make teh right choices and DO NOT forget to thank HIM for everything.
Pray for you
