Miss California Defends Sexy Pics

posted by Kris Rasmussen | 3:00pm Wednesday May 6, 2009

prejean.jpgI’ve only barely noticed the media furor over Miss California USA Carrie Prejean’s comments about same sex marriage, but one story yesterday made me groan, even though we all should have seen it coming a mile away: a tabloid website posted photos they obtained of Prejean in a saucy pose wearing only pink underwear. In fact, in a mere twenty-four hours there is already speculation that Prejean may have to give up her crown for violating part of the pageant contract.
Prejean has released a statement, openly proclaimed her Christian faith, saying that the photos were taken when she was only seventeen and they were for a modeling shoot. She also said that the release of the photos were a deliberate attempt to “mock her Christian faith.”

I’m not one to support those in the spotlight who have martyr complexes. She has a point. Really in a long of history of beauty pageant scandals, I think this is a relatively minor one. The photo is tasteful, she is only seen from the back, and though the photo may not show the best judgment, clearly it is a photo from the distant past.
Personally, I am much more worried about the rumor she is dating Olympic swimmer and party boy Michael Phelps. Now that, in my opinion, would be a big mistake.

Exactly what point are you trying to make with this waste of space ‘article?’

Here’s a point to consider: The beauty pageant contestant is upset that her “morality” is being judged by her personal behaviors, that her life choices are being judged according to social stereotypes of pageant contestants? Might we enlighten her that the judgement she is receiving is little different than that which she is perpetuating against others? She is using the pageant forum to speak against same gender marriage but does not like her morality being judged by her behaviors and doesn’t want to be measured by the stereotype many assign to pageant contestants. She doesn’t begin to understand her own hypocrisy. That is what is noteworthy about this story.

Further proof we ought not take our political, religious, or personal advice from a Beauty Pagaent Player. Very few people can balance the necessary vanity (and narcissicism)of a this sort of contest with a world perspective and outlook.

I am at a loss to see how pink underwear is any more revealing than the skimpy swimsuit all the pagenant contestants wore. Those swimsuits get more skimpy each year. This year they were little more than a g-string and pasties. So protestors, lay off. Everytime anyone with old fashioned grass roots morals takes a stand against any kind of social issue, they get bombarded from all sides. Give this beautiful, intelligent, articulate young woman a break. California is fortunate to have her represent their state. She’s better than all those complainers deserve.

Talk about moral relativism. It’s OK to bash a small minority like gays and lesbians who want to enjoy equal rights with other Americans and to call their behavior “sinful”.
Yet here she is getting breast implants (for free) to enhance her chances of winning beauty contests, and having nude photos taken for profit. It is unlikely that Jesus would approve of such behavior!
This is nothing more than religious hypocrisy, where someone else’s moral actions are evil yet those of the Christian are not.
Word is that more pictures are to be released soon and the pageant is talking to Miss Malibu, the runner up to Prejean. Her goose is likely cooked. Prejean will no doubt have a career as another empty-headed beauty contestant. The new Anita Bryant perhaps.
The latest is that her father is actually gay! You couldn’t make this stuff up.

I THINK PEOPLE SHOULD LEAVE HER ALONE SHE HAS A RIGHT TO HER OPINION CONCERNING THE GAYS AND LESBIANS THEY SHOULD READ ROMANS CHAPTER 1 AND SEE WHAT THE WORD OF GOD SAYS.SIN IS SIN AND SHOULD BE EXPOSED.GOD LOVES THE SINNER BUT HATES THE SIN.

She is whoring her religion and using it to get one more minute in the spotlight before her fifteen minutes is up. She is in the sluttiest of beauty contests (at least Miss AMERICA gives scholarships). She lied about having partially nude pictures out there and she did NOT come in second because of what she said about gays, she came in second because she is SECOND RATE. She will lose her crown tomorrow, rightfully, and anyone who puts her up as a role model has a loose screw or does not have a clue about good morals themselves. They should make her give back the fake breasts that the Miss USA pageant gave her.
