The Emmy nominations for 2009 were announced this morning and the biggest surprise of all was the inclusion of the Fox animated series, "Family Guy"--a show that's known for keeping the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on their toes with their raunchy jokes and has been cancelled twice.
Even more surprising, the show about the dysfunctional Griffin family--Peter Lois, Meg, Chris, Stewie, and dog Brian--was nominated in the "Outstanding Comedy Series," category, only the second animated series ever to be nominated in that category (the first was "The Flintstones" in 1961), and not in the less prestigious "Outstanding Animated Program (Less Than 1 Hour)" category. The show's creator Seth MacFarlane also got a nod in the "Outstanding Voice-Over Performance" category, as Peter Griffin in the episode "I Dream of Jesus" (check out a clip from that episode).

Wow! That show is still on the air?
Not satisfied that this show normally mocks Christianity. There are far more current news issues that the show could focus on... but does Seth McFarland have the guts to do so?
