So FOX has ordered up a Nadya Suleman special to be titled “Octomom: The Incredible Unseen Footage.” Or as I like to think of it, “When Fertility Treatments Attack.”
As the Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports, the two-hour documentary, set to air Wednesday, August 19, will allow the audience to “witness the emotional struggles, physical complications and financial burdens of this single mother of 14 … including the private moments and reactions of Suleman’s family, as well as Suleman’s own feelings, doubts and fears.”
I’m all for guilty-pleasure viewing, but even if I wasn’t already sick of this woman and her cephalopod-like grip on pop culture, I wouldn’t watch. It’s not the shadow of a California Labor Commission investigation into the footage originally shot by Radar Online (which FOX says is now resolved), but rather the lack of innocence.
Yes, the reality genre is fully-contrived, but at least the Duggars with their “18 Kids and Counting” did it the old fashioned way. And even Jon and Kate seemed like responsible people and parents when the whole “Plus 8″ juggernaut ensued.
Suleman has only ever come across as a woman slightly off-kilter, seemingly suffering from depression/narcissistic personality disorder/what have you. Are we really supposed empathize with her “emotional struggles” and care about the “physical complications and financial burdens of this single mother of 14″ which she has brought upon herself? Suleman, is, for better or worse, an extremely unsympathetic character.
The producers expect the special to be “polarizing.” FOX president of alternative entertainment Mike Darnell pinpoints just what makes most reality shows fun, but makes this special about a woman and her 14 small children an unfortunate spectacle: “It’s a little bit of a train wreck, and it’s really entertaining to watch.”
The good news: FOX and the producers have set up a six digit account for the kids.
Will you be watching the “Octomom” special?

This woman makes me sick. I won’t be watching either.

Yup. I’m going to watch it. And I promise to purchase a little something from every advertiser/commercial that sponsors this trainwreck. Why not? It’ll be 10x more entertaining than anything VH1 puts out. Bring it on!

I think I will be forced to watch it, if only so I can feel morally superior. And grateful for the relatively normal number of stretch marks I possess.

The only thing good that I think can come of this is that some judge will be watching and will restore the Guardian ad Litem for the benefit of the kids. I hate this witch and will not watch what this woman has already put her kids through. Be gone with you crazy witch!

I think that we are all human and make mastakes and if the shoes was on your feet would you want people to keep treating you the way she’s being treated and talked about! It’s wrong to attack Gods child that away for alot of us have more children then we need i know i do and i only got 5 and some people say that that’s to much. However we are all a gift from the Man above and who the hell are we to judge the last time i checked only God could, so back up off of the poor lady and let them live. She knows that she made a mastake and now she has to pay there here and it aint like she can take it back like i said they are human beings. Live your own lives!!

I SAW IT AND IT LEFT MUCH TO BE DESIRED. THEY LEFT OUT THE SECOND PART OF THE DEEPLY DISTURBING 911 CALL, WHICH WAS VERY IMPORTANT, IN THAT SHE REPEATS MANIACALLY “OH MY GOD, I’M GONNA KILL MYSELF, I’M GONNA KILL MYSELF” UNTIL SHE IS OUT OF BREATH. THEY ALSO DID NOT SHOW BEFORE AND AFTER PHOTOS OF SULEMAN’S FACIAL SURGERY TO LOOK LIKE ANGELINE JOLIE. THERE IS A DRASTIC DIFFERENCE IN THE BEFORE AND AFTER. IT WAS NOT SHOWN HERE, NEITHER WAS HER RIFT WILL GLORIA ALLRED.

“Octomom” fits, both in the sense of being monstrous, and in the sense of being the kind of mother who will probably squeeze her children to death, metaphorically speaking. I will not watch the story of this sad and pathetic human being and her unfortunate children. Incidentally, I just read that Suleman trademarked the name, “Octomom.”

Fox you are being abusive to the children by making such a film and Octo…you are being neglectful for allowing it to be aired. Pay for your own babies….I don’t want a dime of tax dollars going to pay for her egotism. Damn…..this whole thing is frustrating….
