What Price Would You Pay for Religious Freedom?

I have many real life angels. It would be very difficult to name just one. My husband, my parents, my children and granchildren and my abundance of other family members and friends fill my life with unconditional love and happiness. God has blessed me more than I deserve. Each of my angels are unique. They lend me their wings on days when I don’t feel like flying. My prayer is that God will always smile upon them and bless them as He has blessed me with each of my “real life angels”.

My grandchildren are my angels. Even on the roughest of days, my heart warms when one of them enters the room. Their viewpoint of life is simple and unspoilt by worldly demands and concepts. My grandbabies have a pure and simple love that is yet to be blemished by the harsh realities of life. Being around them gives me reason to remember to give up my problems to God, and to live and enjoy the life we are so blessed to have.

I RECALL ESPECIALLY MY SWEET NEPHEW WHEN I QUIETLY ASKED HIM TO PLEASE OPEN A WINDOW IN THE BACK OF THE VAN WE WERE RIDING IN-HE SAW I GUESS THE DISTRESSED LOOK ON MY FACE BECAUSE OF THE HEAT-HE IMMEDIATELY ASKED THE DRIVERS OF THE VAN TO PLEASE GET SOME AIR IN THE VAN BECAUSE HIS “AUNT LISA NEEDED IT”—IMMEDIATE INTERVENTION OF MY SWEET LITTLE ANGEL THAT DAY!!! STRANGERS ARE SOMETIMES THE MOST UNIQUE ANGELS THAT COME INTO OUR LIVES-SOMEONE NOTICES HELP NEEDED AND OFFER ASSISTANCE AND SOMETIMES WORDS OF COMFORT THAT HIT YOUR THOUGHTS RIGHT ON THE SPOT THAT I IMMEDIATELY THINK OF THE BIBLE VERSE “BE YE CAREFUL TO ENTERTAIN STRANGERS FOR THEREBY SOME HAVE ENTERTAINED ANGELS UNAWARE”-HOW ELSE CAN THEY “HIT WHAT ONE IS THINKING RIGHT ON THE BULLSEYE???”- I CANNOT WAIT TO GET TO HEAVEN TO HAVE MY THOUGHTS OF “IS THIS A REAL ANGEL DISGUISED AS A HUMAN CONFIRMED!!!”-GOD BLESS US EVERYONE!!! My “Angel” has always been my mentally handicapped brother…Johnnie….He was born when I was four. His learning center was damaged due to forceps, however, he is very smart, but most of all, he is so sweet and loving. He knows exactly what I need and makes me smile on my worst of days. If people could understand what a blessing these children are, unfortunately all some see are ‘handicapped’ people. He is my angel. Our family is so blessed to have Johnnie in our lives. He will always be my hero, as well as my angel. DHarmon

My little angel is my great-grandson Tommy Lee. He will be 2 in November, and is always ready with a smile and a hug to spread love and joy to all he meets. This precious boy was conceived by a teenage grandchild of mine, as the result of rape. Out of that greatest of sadness has come the sweetest and most loving child! His mother is struggling to finish school and both of her parents lost their jobs this last year to lay-offs, so times are hard, but Tommy Lee is a joy that never stops making you see that God can bring good, love, joy, and laughter from even the worst of situations – if we but trust Him to do it. His beautiful big brown eyes just dance with delight when you hug him, and he can make even the most dreary day light up with his smile.

My special angel is my great-grandson Michael. Mikey went to be with the Lord at age three, but lives always in my heart, and I think of him each and every day. His birthday was yesterday. Mikey reminds me that life is a blessing from God to each of us and that we can find joy in everything. He reminds me to love deeply, forgive quickly, dance in the rain and love God above all else. Mikey was a precious, mischievious and very smart little boy who laughed from the very soles of his feet, just doubling over when he laughed. Just thinking of him brightens my day and makes me smile. I just know he’s the child that turns on the sunshine every morning to flash us a smile and remind us that he’s there. He’s there with my dad and they color the sunrises, sunsets and rainbows together for me to enjoy.

She was always inspirational and uplifting to myself as well as other family members. She really never met a stranger. She was open hearted and kind to everyone that she came in contact with. She lives on by the way she raised her children and grandchildren. Our family is a close knit family that sticks together no matter what. I thank God for her being in my life. I miss her more and more each day but I know that she is in a much better place and is taken care of. I’ve been in remission from cancer for 7 1/2 years and she was my main supporter. She fought breast cancer on 3 different occasions and she always made it through. God gets all of the glory and praise fo r bringing both of us through our trials and tribulations!!

My real life angel is a friend I knew in high school but we didn’t really hang out with each other. She always seemed to be with the bad crowd. Years went by we met up again while in a after school meeting with parents and teachers~both of our kids were in the 2nd grade and we became the room mothers. We quickly became the best of friends and she helped me a lot while I was going through the trials of uncontrolled seizures and then brain surgery. She was always there to give he a shoulder to cry on and to give me spiritual support. Even though I am a Methodist and she is a Mormon, it didn’t hold us back in our spiritual relationship with God. Whenever we were together we could feel the presence of the Holy Spirit amidst us. A few years ago, she had a stroke and she cannot have a lot of visitors or talk on the phone for long. We started sending each other scriptures by email everyday and how it related to our lives. We are like sisters and we always talk about God and how he is working in our lives! I have told her many times that she is my Guardian Angel sent here especially for me!

My 4 year old daughter Emma Grace is my angel. She was in a car fire with me a couple months ago and I am attaching an E-Mail sent out to everyone telling what happened that day. There are truly Angels among us….
Yesterday I had a car accident on my way home with Emma. This is hard to write yet the message is important. The airbag went off and I ask my daughter if she was ok and she said yes. Through my peripheral vision I saw flames coming up my window on the drivers side. I opened my door and stepped through flames and saw flames all the way down the whole side of the car. Without thought I opened the back door and reached in for Emma. As I unhooked her seat belt and started pulling her out she got her arm caught in the strap. Things went into slow motion during this time and I realized my legs were engulfed in flames and the heat was indescribable. I unhooked her arm and carried her out into the street and ran her and I towards help. As, I looked back the car was completely covered in flames and the trees and grass were going up also. There was a lady standing in her driveway who immediately started calling for help. I checked Emma all over and she didn’t have a scratch. At that moment I ask the lady if she prayed and she said yes and I said lets start praying that no house gets touched and the fire doesn’t spread any farther. Before the accident happened my daughter and I were listening to a song which she has come to request often called 100,000 angels. I want to express how important our faith is and how easy it would have been to burn in flames if it meant saving my daughter. My daughter reminded me when I was holding her in this sweet woman’s house that the angels and God were there mommy to protect us and then she kissed my boo boo as she called it and told the paramedic to look she had no boo boos anywhere. God let me stand in the fire. Thank you, Thank God and Thank you angels. No harm came to any home or person.I lost my purse in the car and also all phones numbers from my cell. If you could send me your phones numbers I would greatly appreciate it. Don’t forget to say I love you to the people in your life today I know I will. I love you. Lisa

She was the one that took care of my brother and myself. I remember always fighting or thinking she was wrong, after I had my first baby Sam I realize how intelligent she was, she never learned to read or write but her wisdom was enormeous. She always had a saying, comment to share, was always there for me and my brother and then my kids, she loved all of us like her own, I not even realized my kids knew how to pray until she was gone and was thanks to her. She tought us to love god but also to acknowledge there are more things than god, to accept life and fight obstacles, never give up, be a good parent; she never like my father but she never make a comment against him, always justified my mother for working and not being there for us, she saw people’s soul and was right all the time. She died at 101 yrs. old but didn’t want to leave trying to protect my kids. After so many yrs. I missed her so much but I can still feel her when I need help or comfort.

They supported me emotionally and spiritually in my endeavor to change my profession at a time when most people are retiring. When I was 60 years old, I entered college (up until now I only had a high school diploma). I earned my bachelors degree in business, graduating with my oldest son and continued on to realize a life-time dream to become a nurse. Big brown eyes that shine with the wonder of life each time she discovers something new. And when I leave this world I know a little bit of me will still be here to carry on how precious each moment I’ve had here because of her. My real life angel is my grandson Ruben, he is 2 years old and he is the love of my life. When things get tough I always look at his picture (of course on my phone) and smile and say I have to keep going. About a year and a half ago I had a slight heart attach, was in the hospital for about 3 days, each day my daughter would bring him in and that would brighten my day and lift my spirits up after a long day of tests. After that I told myself I would keep going and stay healthy just to see that little smile and to see my baby grandson grow up. A few days ago I dropped him off at daycare and he was such a good boy and a big boy. He gave his Nana a kiss and said “Bye, Bye Nana see you tonight” and off he went. Later that night I returned home from work and there he was greeting me at the door happy as can be. What a way to end a hard day. Just his wonderful spirit and loving personality keeps me going. I can go on but will end it here.

My son had dreamed of marring his high school sweet heart and having a child. Max calls me granny, which warms my heart, because I feel that my sons child would have called me granny. At church Wednesday night, Max said “Granny, you know what my teacher told me today”,and I replied, no Max what did she tell you..”She said to BELIEVE in myself Granny.” As tears streamed down my face, I will always hold that memory in my heart…and believe in myself..that God has plans for me to Believe that he took my husband and child home to be with him, and for me to teach each and every child not only to believe in their self, but to Believe in him also.

Holding hands and taking a walk, watching the sunset go down over the Bay. Looking at the sky and saying looks like cotton candy. A hug makes the tears go away. Her smile could brighten anyones day!I love my little Angel.

My angels are my parents. I soley believe in the commandment, “Honor thy mother and thy father”. They are angels that have helped this struggling single mother of two with phsycial, emotional, and financial help through my 42 years here on earth. They say they help me because I am trying to obtain my Master’s degree and take care of household, work full-time as a preschool teacher and take of my children. If I was not a good daughter, they would not help me! They see I am trying and they say they love me everyday and they see I am not a quitter! I want to finish my education so if it is in the Lord’s plan I will be financially, emotionally, and physically for my children and their future children, as my parents were there for me!

My daughter is my angel. She’s there when I “need”, she joins me in prayer, and no matter how much she does not have, she always finds enough for someone who has less. No thanks expected, she just shares what she has with those in need. She raised her own three children alone, and is now raising three grandchildren. I could go on with tales of her generosity, but that would be like bragging, and I feel I am “sharing” why my daughter is my angel.

My real life angel is Beth – she is also the sister I never had – I had 6 brothers; love them all but they just are not sisters! Beth and I have been friends for 35 + years and we are always there for each other – no matter what; even if we just need a voice to hear! Or an ear to listen. We both have 2 granddaughters and they do come with love and lots of energy!
I walk one block and 3 houses to my bus stop for work every morning, Monday thru Friday. 99.9% of each week, I find a penny on my bus stop journey, sometimes going and coming home! I feel like I always have an angel in my pocket and most assuredly in my heart.
Life always has its ups and downs but GOD and my guardian angel(s) are always with me! Life would not be worth living without either one!

Gracie. She is my angel. And fortunately for me, she is also my 5-year-old daughter. She has the gift of being able to see angels. She has named her angels and loans her favorite one – Leo – out to our family and friends who are in need of healing. Gracie explains that Leo is a doctor angel and he waits patiently by hospital bedsides to bring comfort and healing to those who need him. This little girl has a tremendous sense of the spiritual. She prays every day, “Dear Jesus, You know how much I love You. Please make me love you as much as Your holy saints and angels do.” I think she’s well on her way toward that deep love of Jesus, and I am so blessed to be her mommy. True to her name, she is my grace and my angel.

My angel has been my step-daughter Kelly.
Her Dad and I have been living in San Diego for 1 year now and live close by to her and our grandchild Audrey and son-in-law Paul.
She made several trips over here to jump start our car and finally, we purchased a new battery. She was taking care of her Mom, Peggy, who had cancer, plus Audrey. She never complained, told us what to do, but put everything aside to do this. There are so many other things she has done too to help us, and I hope we have reciprocated!

All of my real life angels are constantly being supportive financially, emotionally, spiritually, etc….to me and my younger brother. It would take me forever to list all of the things each of these individuals has done for us our whole entire lives. I’ll just say that if it weren’t for these real life angels being extremely supportive of me and my younger brother, we would both be either homeless because we’re both unemployed or locked up in a mental institution from extreme depression or committed suicide because of extreme depression. 9/11/09 chenise manns

My life-saving angel is my daughter cheyenne. I became pregnant at 20,
by complete surprise,and my life changed forever. Everything I did,every breath I took,was for her,and still is. We have endured so much struggle,hurt,etc. You name it,we’ve been there. But we have always fought and managed somehow. No matter who comes and goes in our life,its always been and always will be her and me. When I have medical issues going on,which happens a lot,my husband is never there,my daughter is,every second. She is 18 now,and I feel bad a lot,that she gives up so much time etc,to help me and does sooo much for me,when she should be doing her own thing now.But she tells me;
Mom, your my mother. I love you.
I know that if I didn’t have her,I would have left this world a long time ago. She has taught me so much,I never doubt her love for me,and I am so proud of her.She is my only child. For years I tried to have other children, then found out I couldn’t. It’s very heartbreaking for me,because I am a very mothering person. She is more than a best friend could ever be–she is my heaven on earth–so you see,my
daughter Cheyenne is my saving grace–my angel.

When I saw her the following week, we were taking our usual walk, and she said Grandma, you were right,Jesus is my friend! He told me that He loves me and would always be there for me.But did you know that “Jesus got a haircut?” She said in all the pictures his hair is long, but when I met Him it was short.I just looked up to the heavens and said “Thank You Jesus!”

After loosing my Daddy in May 06 I became even more sicker my Mom was so afraid she was going to loose me, they thought I had cancer of the Liver i almost died. After many years of terrible sickness it was hipt b my liver was very infected. Getting thru all of that and My Mom sticking beside me after loosing her I became sick again, this was Jan of this year, in July of this year I had surgery on my stomach where they took all my bowels and colon out. I am recovering now, but this was the aftermath of the hurricane. I believe my Mother was there because they thought I could have filled with cancer but by God’s grace it was not Cancer. I work for myself, through the grace of God, my mother who pays for much of my equipment/office items, etc. At one point this summer, it appeared I would have to shut my practice as a psychologist down even though I loved it and it was a spiritually based one. My angel is my office partner who offered to rent out a room and give me the money so I could stay. His friend quickly took the office allowing me to stay in a job where my health would not be impacted. This saved my life, literally. For privacy reasons, this name is not mine, I had to protect my identity. But the situation is very real and I am truly grateful for my angel.

I was home EXACTLY a week. Then I had to turn around, & go back into the hospital. They did emergency surgery. Then I was put into ICU. I was in there for 7 days. I didn’t know if I was gonna live, OR die. That was the ut most terrifying time of my life. Then I went to a regular room. For the longest time, they didn’t know what was wrong with me. At first they thought it was cancer. Then they told my mom she must know a higher power. Because it wasn’t. I have Nodular Fasciitis. It’s massives of swelling in the joints, muscles, & tissues. It leaves HUGE lumps all over my body.I take 37 pills a day for it. My mom is my GUARDIAN ANGEL, because she stayed with me @ the hospital, & slept with her head on the bed railing. At first I kept saying, please god if you’re gonna take me, please take me now. But then I woke up, & I seen my mom just crying, & crying. Askin god Please Don’t Take her now. Then I totally changed my attitude. It can be 3-9 years, before it’s even gone. I’m on my 4th year now. I’m 22, now

My husband and I requested a SNAP Food credit increase, we’ve been turned down twice. A week ago we received notice that our account would be changed from $102 a month to $101. I see this as a subtle threat; or prehaps a warning to stay quiet. ( He’s type 2 diabetic and we live on SSI). Which would you prefer: An extra $100 for dietic food, or $180,000 a month for Hospital costs if or when John has a Diabetic blackout or slips into a Coma? You already pay for his SSI and VA, so your decision. Have you ever tried eating healthy nutritious meals with only $25 a week for 2 people? No wonder there’s so much anger toward the government in Southern Kentucky! If Obama wants to prevent complications associated with diabeties, obesity, and other ailments, wouldn’t it make sense to issue specified food vouchers/ Dietic foods/Care boxes to VA clinics,Food pantries and other institutions that address the needs of Low income Americans? The Government Commodities
( often delivered to Non Profit Organizations) are extremely high in Sodium and Carbs. I have no choice, however; because of the high demand, I’m only allowed to visit the foodpantry once a month, so it’s that or go hungry.
Worst of all, not ONE version of the Healthcare proposals include tax breaks or incentives to encourage responsible, healthy lifestyles: Therefore, Costs will skyrocket. and John and I will continue to suffer in silence. Please tell our story. Tell DHS to stop the mindgames against diabetic clents who are only trying to feed themselves properly. All we’re asking for is just an added $100 per month for food. That’s all. Is that too much to wish for?

Our Blessed angel is our mother. She is the strongest woman we know. She is no longer with us, as she passed away in December 1990 from breast cancer. Our mother endured a lot in her short life. She was born in 1923 to a poor southern family who had a large family. She did finish high school and had a job where she met her first husband. They got married and twenty four days after they got married, he was killed in a motorcycle accident. There were no children from this marriage, it was over before it had hardly begun. She met our father, got married and they had 9 children together. My mother knew how to make a dollar stretch, make clothes and get us food, when we didn’t think we were going to have anything to eat or wear. We are very greatful for her teaching us to be strong and resourceful. My mother lost her husband, our father, at the age of 58 yrs. old to cancer and a major heart attack. Four years after my father passed away, leaving 7 children in the home, my younger brother, was killed on his 18th birthday from a farming accident. My baby brother was the one that found my 18 yr. old brother out in the fields that day. The worst was having to tell my mother her son had died alone in the field. Four years later, our mother again faced a great loss, her baby son, three days after his 20th birthday, he died in a car accident. She endured the heart ache and pain, but still saw us through our own losses and hardships. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1990, had a mastectomy and 25 lymph nodes, all were cancerous. Even though she had radiation and two rounds of chemo, she went to heaven ten months later, December 1990. She taught us to be strong, no matter what. Never give up without trying first. She taught us what ‘real family’ meant. She will always be our angel.

My mom is truly my angel. She fought cancer for a full 5 years may be longer she did not let us always know what she was going through. She stayed with me for a few months before she passed. While she was here and she knew that her time was nearing she told a few people to help me get her out of our house. She did not want to die in the house that her grand children lived in. She got a chance to go back to her home before she passed and she passed looking out of the window. I think she saw and angel coming to take her away. I sometimes smell something that remind me of her and I know that she is near looking out for me.
