Last Friday a judge gave many of us in pop culture land – if not the entire general public – an early Christmas gift by ordering Jon Gosselin to cease and desist from making media appearances of any kind. The judge was ruling in regards to a case filed by TLC, the network behind “Jon and Kate Plus Eight.” TLC has claimed that Jon’s behavior over the last few months violates his contract with them primarily because his antics don’t align with TLC’s goal of family-friendly programming. Maybe, but one can assume that Gosselin’s attempts to stop his children from being filmed by TLC also didn’t help things, right?
I am sure the news came as a huge blow to tabloid TV shows lke “Inside Edition” and “TMZ” which rely on a steady stream of Jon and Kate news to fill airtime, but the bigger blow is to Gosselin’s pocketbook as the injunction prohibits him from giving paid nightclub appearances, interviews, and anything else media-related. The case is going to be appealed by Gosselin’s lawyer, but another hearing is not scheduled until April.

What does this mean for Gosselin’s lifestyle? I don’t know. I think what means for his family is that they will be given some much needed peace and privacy. Meanwhile, it will give the rest of us an entire five months to learn how to say , “Jon who?”
