By Amy & Nancy Harrington, Pop Culture PassionistasThis week Matt Damon offered to take one in the kisser for a good cause, Miss (Bald) America took the crown, and Sir Paul McCartney went viral for charity. Here are this week’s most inspirational pop culture moments.Matt Damon Says He’ll Take ‘One in the Kisser’ for 1GoalThe folks at 1Goal have, well, one goal and that is to see that everyone around the world has the chance to learn.Organizers are attacking this global mission during the World Cup by “bringing together footballers, fans, charities, corporations, and individuals to lobby and achieve our ambitious aim of education for everyone.”There are many famous faces supporting the movement including soccer legend Pele, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and, of course, Bono.Even Hollywood stars like Matt Damon and Jessica Alba are getting behind the organization. They recently filmed a really funny PSA, along with John Legend and Shakira. Damon’s over-the-top admittedly caffeine-fueled rant might go a bit too far for some as he shouts, “Who can I fight for 1Goal? Is there like a group of people I could fight for 1Goal? I mean, I’d take a couple of licks in the kisser for 1Goal. I’m down.”There’s nothing like a good laugh to raise awareness. And it seems to be working. Over 9,775,000 people have joined the cause so far. If you want to be a part of it, visit www.join1goal.org.

There She Is, Miss (Bald) AmericaIn what might just be one of the most inspiring stories of the year, let alone the week, 21-year-old Kayla Martell won the Miss Delaware pageant. And what’s so inspiring about that you might ask? Well the crown is gracing a bald head, not exactly the traditional definition of a “beauty queen.”Kayla has an autoimmune condition called alopecia that causes hair loss. She has been afflicted since age 10, but has never let it stop her from pursing her dreams. She has competed in the Miss Delaware pageant four times before (twice she competed bald), but the fifth time was the charm. She took part in the 2010 competition wearing a blonde wig, but believes the judges picked her “because they knew I could fulfill the duties of Miss Delaware.”She often appears in public without a wig and even took it off on live TV on the “CBS Early Show” this week. She was accompanied by a young girl named Lilly who also has the rare condition. Earlier this year, Lily encouraged Kayla to try out for the pageant one more time, and escorted her during the event’s evening gown competition.Lilly says she’d like to be Miss America some day. Kayla just made that dream possible.Paul McCartney Donates a Concert for HIV AwarenessLast weekend Beatle Paul McCartney took part in a historical charitable event. Sir Paul’s Hard Rock Calling concert was broadcast exclusively on a dedicated YouTube channel to benefit Born HIV Free. It was the first time a European concert was streamed on YouTube.com.More than 1.2 million viewers logged on to the event, a number much larger than the 40,000 there in person. The goal of the Born HIV Free campaign is to end mother-to-child HIV transmission by 2015. With over 14,000 tweets, 1,000 blog entries, and 600 Facebook postings during the event, certainly awareness was raised for their mission. The concert will remain on the Born Free HIV YouTube Channel for one month. Log on now to show your support and hear your favorite McCartney tune. For more on the Pop Culture Passionistas, visit their website.
