While there has been no slowing down on the expansion of Kate Gosselin’s media empire, Jon Gosselin’s media exposure has been – blessedly- curtailed, in large part to a court order that stopped him from talking to the press about his family. But never count the father of eight out of the fame game, because this past week he has gotten media mileage out of sporting a new dragon tattoo and now he has announced – on the heels of the release of Kate’s latest book – that he is considering write a memoir with the help of his life coach. All of this is part of what Jon is calling a “rebirth” and an opportunity to reflect on the journey he has been on.

In a savvy move to avoid the wrath of any judges, Gosselin’s life coach, Sylvia Lafair, made the announcement to the press – not Jon – and revealed that Jon went through a six month leadership course she teaches in the Pennsylvania mountains. According to her, the training, which reportedly costs thousands of dollars, has revived him spiritually and set him on a new path.
In reality TV world, reinvention is a necessity if one wishes to keep collecting a paycheck. However, I was more inclined to have hope for Jon’s change when he was considering Judaism. Or when he has talked about his Christian family roots. A new tattoo and a life coach who refers to your growth as “like a vaccination that’s taking effect” doesn’t really inspire me to believe Jon has found the necessary direction he is looking for just yet.
