A new documentary is getting ready to hit the circuit called “Senna,” about one of the world’s most famous Formula 1 drivers, Ayrton Senna from Brazil. If you’re like me, you know little to nothing about Formula 1, have never even heard of Senna, and watching a documentary about those things sounds about as exciting as getting car’s oil changed.
Well, shelve those preconceptions and see this documentary the first chance you get.
“Senna” is remarkable in that it can take a subject that might never have appeared on your radar and make you deeply interested in it. This is all thanks to the storytelling skill of director Asif Kapadia and the electric, bigger-than-life personality of his star. Senna approached both life and racing with the same driving intensity. He was spiritual, passionate, and one-of-a-kind. “Senna” is one of those rare films that makes you want to be a better person after watching it.

Senna has always been my hero — not just in sports but in life. When my Brazilian wife convinced me recently to get a tattoo, it was of his iconic yellow helmet.
What I admire most about Senna is that he pursued a God-given talent — driving cars — to perfection. No one has ever done it better, before or since. Yet he was still so recognizably human and fallible — emotional and sometimes prone to temper tantrums.
He visibly struggled with all these sides of himself, even as (like Jim Carrey in the Truman Show) the entire world watched his life, right down to his final breath. Yet in the end, few people, let alone athletes, have lived a life with more grace under (enormous) pressure than Ayrton Senna da Silva.

I met Hilary on mysingleparentmatch. Com nine months ago and we went through a very interesting journey. She even stopped speaking to me at one point but we decided that we are very much in love and look forward to seeing what our futures hold for one another…
