Teaching my nephew to shoot a basket… And seeing his confidence grow as he learned the mechanics of the shot and was able to shoot free throws one after the other! Proud auntie!!

As a coach for my sons Babe Ruth baseball team, our team was ranked as the worst team in the division. Everyone expected one of the other teams to cruise through the season and take the league championship. Our team finished the regular season with a 14-10 record and everyone said we would be done in the first round of the playoffs. After winning our first 3 playoff games and making it to the championship game, I had informed our players that they had already achieved what everyone else said could not happen. I let them know that regardless of the outcome that they proved that they had heart and that was something no one could take away from them My team played one of the best games of the year in that championship game. My son hit a bases loaded triple to go up 6-2 and we one the game with a final score of 6-4. This group of kids never gave up and had been rewarded in the end.

My 15 year old son Marty was originally my foster child and a VERY sickly baby. He was in and out of hospital for years and almost died more than once. Through years of hard work he overcame his medical issues and in May of 2011 he and his track relay team took 2nd place in the state of IL. They never imagined they would get to state let alone place second. I was SO proud of my boy who has come so far. After receiving his medal he came off the podeum walked up to our family and put his medal around his 2 year old baby sisters neck. Not only was I so proud and happy for Marty for placing second but my heart burst with pride for placing the medal on his little sister. It was such a great day and wonderful experience. I have a photo of the above that I would love to share as well! Thanks! If we won this money I would use it towards really cool running shoes for my son!

I had 2 friends on the 1981-2 SF 49ers… one was the starting left tackle for Joe Montana. Another was on the defensive line. After knowing the personal stories and hardships of these 2 players and their key roles in winning a Superbowl was an unbelievable thrill. The Niners really stank in the prior seasons. The LT, Dan Audick, btw, was interviewed by Michael Lewis when he was researching before writing “The Blind Side”. The defensive lineman, John Choma had been cut by the Chargers. He was a HS offensive line coach when Bill Walsh called him up the summer before the 1981 season. He wound up making a TC saving, goal line tackle to preserve the win for the Niners in Super bowl 16. Between the great, last minute win over Dallas in the prior game…then winning the Superbowl in Pontiac MI. Well, we’re still talking about it … Dan brings his ring to various events in San Diego and let’s people try it on. Still a thrill…

In 1980, my first year to coach basketball,I had the privlege of coaching seven young, unexperienced girls. They and I knew this was going to be a rough season…a season of no wins. Instead of goals of winning the game we set goals of not letting the other team score 100 points on us, goals of shooting the ball at least 10 times in the half, goals of in-bounding the ball before 5 seconds was up, goals of passing the ball to an open player without double dribbling. But the girls all played with smiles, with joy, and with enthusiasm. We ended with a record of 0-14, but our spirit was undefeated.

My moment was when I played soccer for the park and rec team. I was young and had tons of fun and started to learn that sports is not just fun and play but serious with skill and other things! I had a hard time being partially visionaly impaired but playing with others as a team mate allowed me to know that with a team I had support to help make the goal kick and it was great! Wide open goals due to a great team and defense support!

I think that this movie is fantastic…I love to watch any sport documentary movie and this is one of the best

The most inspiring part of my sports career is being cut from the Jr. High basketball team, the Jr. High Track team, and also the Jr. High Football all between the ages of 12 – 14 years old. And now, at the tender age of 37 landing a huge role as a 16 year old Manassas High School star football player(Money), in the film “Undefeated”. Hope the Producers contact me. There’s a million stories behind my effort, and this will help to give this movie even more momentum.

I had an amazing coach whom believed in me, I was the outstanding player of my state as I lead the state
in assists and steals. I lacked confidence and I can’t begin to tell you the difference one coach made in my life! I am who am today because of his ability to lift me up and believe in me. Just for the record it not about winning and loosing it’s about developing character , and transforming girl/boys to women/men.
