Diana Nyad became the first person to swim without a shark cage from Cuba to Key West, Fla. at 64-years-old and will share her story in an exciting account of part two of “Super Soul Sunday” airing on the Oprah Winfrey Network Oct. 13 at 11:00 a.m. ET/PT. It was Nyad’s fifth time taking on the challenge that took 53 hours to complete.

The marathon swimmer attempted the quest in 2011 and in 2012 but failed due to severe weather restrictions and talks to Oprah about swimming from a spiritual perspective while detailing lessons learned while challenging her critics. Get a sneak peak of Nyad responding to cheating allegations.

Nyad shares her passion for helping victims of Hurricane Sandy in her “Swim
for Relief” event in NYC that starts on Oct. 8. She will do laps in a Manhattan pool outside of Herald Square for 48 consecutive hours to raise funds. She will be joined by Richard Simmons, but it does not appear he will be swimming as he was dressed in Swarovski crystals, according to reports.

It was estimated her swimming will mount to 96 miles.
