Remembering Abraham Lincoln on April 14

posted by shuang | 4:15pm Wednesday April 14, 2010

abraham-lincoln.jpgThe 16th president of America will always be known for altering our nation’s history forever when he signed the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863 to abolish slavery.   As the Civil War ended, Lincoln helped pass the 13th Amendment which legally ended slavery in the United States.

Affectionately known as Honest Abe, Lincoln was known for being tought but fair.  He was also a prolific writer and an eloquent orator.

Five days after the American Civil War came to an end, Lincoln was assassinated today on April 14, 1865

Read Abraham Lincoln quotes to remember his inspiring courage and moral conviction for believing all men are created equal, no matter the race or ethnicity.

“Be sure you put your feet in the right place, then stand firm.”

“The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time.”

“Leave nothing for tomorrow which can be done today.”

“Don’t worry when you are not recognized, but strive to be worthy of recognition.”

“I leave you, hoping that the lamp of liberty will burn in your bosoms until there shall no longer be a doubt that all men are created free and equal.”

Tell Us Your Love Story: How Did You Meet Your Valentine?
