A 99-year-old woman in Lake Oswego, Oregon is proving that you can learn something new no matter what age you are.
The widow of a former mayor, Virginia Campbell recently received an iPad from her daughter and son-in-law. Even though Campbell never owned a computer or a Kindle before, she was immediately captivated by the iPad and its touch screen. As an English major, Campbell loved reading, but glaucoma made it difficult for her to read.
Now, with the iPad, Campbell’s life has changed–she is able to read books in large font and also write poetry. She has been composing limericks like the one below:
To this technology-ninny it’s clear
In my compromised 100th year,
That to read and to write
Are again within sight
Of this Apple iPad pioneer.
Campbell is also adding “teacher” to her list of new accomplishments–she’s showing others in her retirement community how to use her new gadget. As Campbell told Fox News Oregon, “You’re never too old to take advantage of something that will help you.”

Vice Video’s and everyone seems to be talking about it. Of course it is going to have some hiccups at the beginning, at the end of the day it’s a computer. I think it’s a great invention and a good step forward. Most of those complaining about it probably don’t even own one. The Apple tablet will be a great tool for doing video search and playing. Most of the video sites listed on http://www.dozenvideo.com such as youtube and vimeo can be accessed by the iPad and I think it’ll improve the ultimate viewing experience.

Great to see this woman enjoying the gadget. Thanks for sharing. Bought my dad in AZ an iPhone (he was 87 at the time). He had a difficult time with that mostly I believe because of its size.
How great it is that someone cared enough and was able to provide their beloved with a gift that gave this woman back an important part of her life. Kudos to that womans family member for being so thoughtful! I hope others see this and follow suit. It would mean so much to so many who are more likely just bored to tears. These keep the minds engaged in so many ways! Ipads are a true blessing!
