posted by Jennifer E. Jones

To celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, here are inspirational quotes from the great leader.

“Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into friend.”

“We are called to play the good Samaritan on life’s roadside… True compassion is more than flinging a coin to a beggar.”

“Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into a friend.”

“Life’s most urgent question is: what are you doing for others?”

“If a man is called to be a streetsweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause and say, here lived a great streetsweeper who did his job well.”

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”

“Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.”

“Forgiveness is not an occasional act; it is an attitude.”

“We must constantly build dikes of courage to hold back the flood of fear.”

“Everyone can be great because everyone can serve…”

There are lots of religious leaders in this country and I feel that if one is recognized and a holiday is set for one that is recognized by our government then it isn`t fair to other religious leaders. What is fair for one is fair for the others. Plus lots of tax money is wasted with paid days off for by all Federal, State & Local Government, Amen.
