I saw this story online but didn’t read the details until later when I noticed that Josh Hamilton was trending on Twitter. That’s when I heard the sad irony of the Rangers fan who slipped while trying to catch a ball Hamilton had tossed to him from the outfield. That fan fell over the railing and plunged 20 feet to his death. Even more tragic was the fact that he was with his young son.
As the father of three young boys (one of which I’ve attended three MLB games with), this is an unimaginable accident.
First and foremost, please pray for the family and friends of this man–especially his children.
Secondly, pray for Josh Hamilton who according to reports is distraught over the tragedy, even though he really shouldn’t be blamed for what happened.
Thirdly, pray for those who were in attendance (fans, players, officials, etc.) who saw the accident and might be dealing with their own issues of grief, horror and dismay.
And finally, pray for wisdom for MLB officials who might be need to consider how to address the issue. The league may think about ending this popular act of player-to-fan interaction that has been mostly a harmless tradition but is suddenly looking to be something that might need to stop in order to prevent future tragedies from occurring.
Here’s a link to one of the stories that will provide additional details of what happened.

It’s crazy that people would blame anyone for this. Anyone ever tell you if you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say it at all? As sad and horrible as this was, everything happens for a reason and god is watching over us. Don’t waste your time trying to blame someone for this. Pray to GOD for the people who have been effected by this even. No one is to blame, it’s that simple.

Josh Hamilton should not under any circumstances be blamed what happened! The guy shoudnt have reached out that far and he woudnt have fallen! Josh Hamilton is not to blame, the guy put this on himself and killed his self! He shoudnt have tryed to reach so far! So anyone whos blaming Josh Hamilton should have a attitude check and think straight! Josh Hamilton didnt do crap!

If you’re seriously blaming Josh Hamilton, you are an idiot. He made a mistake, ever happen to you before? For you to try and blame one person, especially when the stakes are this high, shows how immature your mind works. Regardless of who’s fault it is, that child is without a father now. So maybe you should focus your comments a little more on the well-being of that family and a little less about who’s to blame. You obviously must not know much about Josh Hamilton or the game of baseball even for that matter.

In NO WAY WHATSOEVER should Josh Hamilton be blamed for the ACCIDENT that happened last night during the Ranger’s game. Josh needs our prayers for strenth as does the victim’s family and the whole team.

That’s a lot of praying. Which God should we pray to exactly? Allah? Yahweh? Jesus? Mithra? Krishna? Horus? Thor? Zeus? Neptune?
Please be more specific.

I completely blame Josh Hamilton for this, maybe he should learn to throw, before tossing a ball in the stands for people to attempt to catch.
