Following last night’s Wonderful Pistachios 400 in Richmond, the 12 drivers eligible to win NASCAR’s coveted Sprint Cup were finally set in stone. Familiar names like five-time defending champion Jimmie Johnson, former four-time champion Jeff Gordon and another past champion like Tony Stewart were all among the elite group.

Matt Kenseth is another former champion with a legitimate chance at the championship. Kenseth landed in fourth place and after the points reset is now just six points behind standings co-leaders Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick.

Earlier this summer, Inspiring Athletes posted an interview with Kenseth and his wife Katie. In that conversation, he revealed one of his secrets to success:

“You can get too excited or overconfident when things are going good and it’s easy to get too far in the ditch when things are going bad,” Kenseth said. “So I try to keep it even and keep it all in the right perspective.
