Veteran NASCAR driver Mark Martin has signed a two-year deal to drive the #00 car for Michael Waltrip Racing starting next season at the Daytona 500. Martin will drive the Aaron’s Toyota in 25 races, Waltrip will drive in four races and then fill the seat with other drivers for the remaining races pending sponsorship. Inspiring Athletes posted an interview with Martin earlier this year where he talked about how his faith and his reliance on ministries like Motor Racing Outreach have helped him maintain composure on the race track in those times when things get heated in a hurry.

“Your character is slowly built and quickly eroded,” Martin said. “You’re definitely influenced whatever you are immersed in and whatever you’re around and what you’re a part of. I’m far from perfect but I have managed to earn a good deal of respect by trying to implement the kinds of things you learn about (in MRO chapel).
