Deepak Chopra: God is Laughing

posted by dchopra | 2:41pm Monday June 16, 2008

In a world of so much suffering, how could God be laughing? One answer is that “ha-ha” is just like “ah-ha!”–”I get it.” My two giggling special guests help me out in this.

I’ve heard the “ah-ha” is related to “ha-ha” elsewhere as well… I can’t seem to rememebr who said it. Was it Einstein, perhaps?

Growing up Catholic, I was subjected to very scary images of God to the point where I would have panic attacks. I eventually left it all behind me and it took many years before I could say outloud that I was not a Christian. But it is hard to turn off the ‘worry’ button. This book helped me realize — everything is okay, that I need not worry about things which I have no control — which is almost everything. I also learned fear is useless, so how liberating to let go of usless worry. This made a profound impact in how I see the world. After that I noticed how many commercials on the television scare you into buying there product. ‘if you don’t buy this, then this will happen’. It’s everywhere.
Thank you for writing this book. I really enjoyed it.
