Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney Say to Teach the Kids Meditation!

Dear Mallika, I was happy to read this! I really harbour love for you; Mallika, in my heart as you are such a motherly, sweet and all-encompassing individual - intent to nourish everybody! I cherish Maharishi's legacy and movement (which is just the container of the vast knowledge Maharishi really enlivened and spread). Just now I am reading a book "Women of Power and Grace" on "Nine astonishing Luminaries of Our Time" from different cultures. I just read the story of Maria Skobtsova and this brought me back to quite a dark time in Europe's recent history. Maharishi taught not an ideology or belief system, but a simple meditation technique which can be practiced by anyone. With his vision that "Nobody must suffer. Life is here to enjoy. Expansion of happiness is the purpose of creation" and this nourishing technique of Transcendental Meditation he appeared at a critical junction point in history and showed a way to an age of "elevated existence", higher consciousness in society, a new era of peace and happiness. There really is no other way then to go for this - the creation of coherence and integration in society, an age of understanding, love and creativity.
Whenever I read Deepak I see him so eloquently speaking out the simple, yet profound truths he learnt from his intimate conncection to Maharishi, this great teacher. This is timeless knowledge.
Maharishi showed a way for a whole generation - that had just turned its back to the horrors o the past, but did not really know of how to achieve what it was aiming at. He brought a solution that has been abundantly scientifically poven to work - use TM as a simple tool and this not only individually but also in groups.

Thanks for this beautiful reminder. I learned about TM as a teenager but it always seemed too expensive ($40 was a lot back then). I finally took the training in 1995 (the tariff had gone up quite a bit from $40), after I'd done meditation on my own for years. It really did solidify the practice for me. The funny thing is, even though I don't use the mantra they gave me (long story), the focus I learned from TM is central to my meditation every day of the week.

If the consciously 'enlightened'
health-boosting & stress-busting claims touted about
the (famously tax-evading & 'giggling')
Maharishi's TM methods are supposedly valid,
then why does DAVID LYNCH
blatantly CHAIN-SMOKE
CIGARETTES like an ADDICT during interviews
in recent years -- when he claims
that he's been consistently & blissfully doing T.M.
for over three decades ???
Please explain --
Why does TM-proselytizer David Lynch
smoke two packs of cigarettes a day (documented)
-- if the purported "stress-free" panacea
of "transcendental meditation"
is so incredibly healthful & calming ?
(it's also exhorbitant
& fraudulent at a cost
of $ 2,500 dollars to get
a (generic) so-called "secret" mantra
which is assigned solely based on
a student's age -- in accordance with a chart
(during a "Puja" religious-ritual worship & chanting ceremony).

Mindfulness, breathing exercises (such as "Chi Kung"),
and Stress-reduction programs & techniques,
which are well-researched, medically-recommended,
very effective, & definitely more affordable !

also beneficially appropriate for PUBLIC SCHOOL settings
--- without getting involved with
a religious-political organization,
such as TM (that has a
fascist & sexist framework,
a history of cult-type conduct
and a pattern of deception).

The modus operandi of the TM missionaries is to deliberately MISINFORM school STUDENTS, PARENTS, & staff about the 'Transcendental Meditation' organization & procedures. The TM movement has used various front-organizations and program-labels over the years. One of their current evangelical guises is the innocuous-sounding "QUIET TIME" in schools. The "Quiet Time" program permission slips (given to students along with their lunch forms, etc. at the beginning of the school year) only mention the slogan "Quiet Time" -- however these permission slips DO NOT PROVIDE ANY ACCURATE DESCRIPTION WHATSOEVER of TM procedures, "Puja" worship-initiation ceremony, nor any mention of the "Transcendental Meditation" organization or background info. about TM agendas ("World Plan", "yogic flyers", "crowned Rajas", etc.) --- http://www.cultnews.com/?p=2155

"Ex-members say that the TM movement trains them in the kinds of deception noted here.
