Hmmm…at first I didn't like the new James Bond movie Quantum of Solace. After all, where were all the gadgets. But then I thought about the title.

sol·ace (säl?is)
noun
1. an easing of grief, loneliness, discomfort, etc.
2. something that eases or relieves; comfort; consolation; relief
quan·tum (kwän?t?m)
noun pl. quanta -·ta (-t?)
1. quantity, or amount
2. a specified quantity; portion
3. in the quantum theory, a (or the) fixed, elemental unit, as of energy, angular momentum, etc.
Actually interpreted it means a “measure of comfort.” Which is different than a “Small amount of peace”
I have not seen the movie but if it follows the 007 theme probably won’t until it comes out on DVD or somthing like that.
Sept. 11, 2001 showed that we all could offer a “measure of comfort.” to one another especially caught up in the same maelstrom.
But peace:
an undisturbed state of mind; absence of mental conflict; serenity in full peace of mind
calm; quiet; tranquillity
Comes from God and is not given or controlled by situations, people or circumstances.
2 Peter 1:2
Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.

Mike,
Your definition of solace sure sounds peaceful to me…

Ahh…you have to first consider the prior film, “Casino Royale,” to understand why he can’t find “it.” Actually, it some small measure he does. Have you ever watched “The Bourne Supremacy”? Watch the ending. It’s exactly about Jason Bourne seeking a “small measure of relief or peace.” Quite beautiful for an action flick.
