We as Christians need to be comfortable being marginal. This will require two things: Surrender and Choice.
Power at its best is love implementing the demands of justice and justice at it's best is love correcting everything that stands against love. (Martin Luther King Jr. August 16, 1967)
I choose to identify with the underprivileged, I choose to identify with the poor. I choose to give my life to the hungry. I choose to give my life for those who have been left out of the sunlight of opportunity. (Martin Luther King Jr. August 16, 1966)

Hey Jazz -
I see where you’re going with this, and I like it. What the world tells us is important and what is truly important are two totally different things. I taught a study on Hebrews 13 the other night. What a counter-cultural first half! Those exhortations are directly in opposition to what we are told by society is important – sex (and lots of it with lots of people), money, power.
We need to live lives that are more concerned with embracing the marginalized, meeting Christ in unique places. I’m moving towards that in my life, and will hopefully be living this kind of life in all areas of my life later this year.
