Scot, We are using the Starting Point materials at our church. In fact, just finished our first 10-week group and are about to start our second. What a great, great process it is. Ours is a very seeker-friendly church, with lots of folks joining us with no church background, no experience with Scripture and only a limited understanding of the whole of the Christian story. We have found the material engaging and very relevant to folks, the conversational aspect non-threatening, the various additional resources which range from movies to suggestions to look at famous pieces of art, etc. to be really helpful to folks.
This kind of curriculum/program is so helpful to us as we work hard to assimilate folks into “the story of God” as they become a part of our Body. We’ve decided that the only way to help folks grow spiritually is to make sure they become deeply rooted in the right soil from the get go. (duh)
I bet you’ll have a great time! I’m kind of jealous … would love to hear more about what you are going to share with them AND what you learn from them, too.

Scot,
It figures! I’ll be visiting my folks that weekend, and won’t be in Atlanta. That church is not so terribly far from me, and I would love to have been in attendance, if only to shake your hand and say “hello.” I hope you enjoy your visit.

If you are interested in the experience, North Point is doing a Starting Point promo for first time groups with a reduced cost that you might want to check out at the following location:

Scot,
Not that you know who I am, but I signed up today since this is in my backyard. One of my good friends who graduated with his MDiv in ’89 had you as one of his professors. Anyways, I look forward to trying understand more of where you are coming from in way of the “emergent” and “missional” ideologies. I am already appreciate Stetzer’s thinking on many issues.
