Someday when you have the chance, check out Thanksgiving Coffee Company in Fort Bragg, CA. (http://www.thanksgivingcoffee.com/) The best cup of coffee I’ve found, and they work hard to create a better world at the same time. Their motto is “Not just a cup, but a Just Cup.” I was once reading Wendell Berry and found myself asking “right, but is this all even possible in this world?” Then I took a tour of the Thanksgiving Coffee Company plant, and heard some of their stories, and realized they were actually doing it all. Ever since, they have become the only coffee we buy.

Great product. Great Cause. Great people.
I visited OVC’s roasting facility about a month ago and have been brewing their coffee ever since. I wouldn’t let anything else in my grinder. But the reason I was initially drawn to OVC is because they describe their company as a ?missional venture,? which means they roast coffee because they want to make the world a better place, particularly by serving the poor ? ?coffee with a cause? is their mantra. After two hours with their team, I?m hooked.

Scot, may I put you and your readers onto yet another link? My own congregation works with Land of a Thousand Hills coffee and the Church of Rwanda – around $3 of every bag of coffee goes directly into the Rwandan economy, and the company itself is a work of reconciliation for the widows from the Twa, Tutsi and Hutu ethnic groups who operate it, and it supports microfinance loans in the country.
