Lord,
This is also my prayer and I say Amen.

I can relate! I read the blog regularly but am finding that I have to pick and choose because the buffet of meaty things to read is too much for my poor little brain (especially on Saturdays!) I weed out the sports stuff first so that helps. But I get off on bunny trails taking links to other sites that are thought provoking too. I bookmark them to read later….but later rarely comes. It is Scot’s fault though that I have to regularly read The Radical Pastor/Frye, Internetmonk and Ted Gossard’s blogs also. Well the good thing is, we’ll never run out of reading materials.

This post was cute until he dropped Sean Hannity’s name. Then it wasn’t funny anymore.

I laughed out loud when I read this over the weekend. I relate to and read quite a few of the posts. I really like the diversity of subject material on Saturday.
BTW, I bought “A Community Called Atonement” and it arrived Friday. That put me in a real bind between preparing to speak on Sunday (not my real job), reading the weekly meanderings and the book. What’s a rabid reader supposed to do?!
Anyway I’ve made it through Ch. 9 in the Atonement book. Lots of agreement, a question or two about penal substitution even after the chapter on it and the one on the Cross that follows.
Last week I also finished, “Intuitive Leadership” by Tim Keel. That’s a good read too. Put it together with McLaren’s “Everything Must Change” and my mind will be pounding for months (not to mention my heart).

Dan Ra (#6),
I didn’t say “Sean Hannity.” I said “Even Sean Hannity.” There’s a big difference. As in “at the other end of the scale.” Lighten up, please!

How about Scot’s selection of/recommendation of books? Family pictures have been thrown off the shelves in my house to make room for “more books”. And then there’s reading them all – my house is neglected, my family unfed, my cat’s litter box unscooped, my dog lacking in exercise, my exercise life gone to pot, and my pastor is in turmoil since I’ve transferred my tithe to Amazon (they’re “Christian” books, so it’s ok, right???)

A new revelation occurred today – Scot, with his book lists and copious posting, is engaged in strengthening the marriages of his readers (at least those who are married). Time consumed, family unfed, litter box unscooped, pictures removed to make room for books, budget in shambles, surreptitious boxes from amazon, rationalization … all fodder for conflict and strife – bringing pent-up emotions to the fore – precipitating the good fight.
