I can't wait to read it. I've read Ehrman, and Wallace's devastating critique of it. I'd love to read Perrin's book as well.
Here is a good interview done on Reclaiming the Mind's "Converse with Scholars" program with Nick about the book:

How does this differ from Mark Robert's approach in Can We Trust the Gospels?
Perrin's is more about historiography and philosophy and bigger questions; Roberts deals with more specific questions.
Rick,
Thanks - I listened to the first half of the program on my way in to work this morning. Good intro and a good discussion of certitude. The second half will occuoy the drive home tonight.
Is Perrin's historiography similar to N.T. Wright's critical realism?
Derek Leman
Derek,
Yes, similar. He was Tom Wright's assistant for a few years. Tom Wright's critical realism is a shaping of Ben Meyer's excellent stuff on this.
I'm excited to read Dr. Perrin's book...it sounds like he wrote it in a similar matter to how he teaches...down-to-earth for us non-theologian students yet challenging enough for those who are. I enjoyed taking his Biblical Theology class not long ago at Wheaton and wish I could sign up for more of his classes...only money and the current doc. program I'm in are getting in the way! :)
