Our Common Prayerbook 30 - 3
Psalm 30 thanks God (vv. 1-3, 11-12) and exhorts others to thank God (vv. 4-5). Both emerge from the concrete reality of David's own experience. Here is what that experience looks like:Step one: David was set on high and was flourishing at the hand of God's bounty (v. 7a).Step two: David became too

Theology After Darwin 1 (RJS)
One of the more important and more difficult pieces of the puzzle as we feel our way forward at the interface of science and faith is the theological implications of discoveries in modern science. A comment on my post Evolution in the Key of D: Deity or Deism noted: ...this reminds me of why I get a

Almost Christian 4
Who does well when it comes to passing on the faith to the youth? Studies show two groups do really well: conservative Protestants and Mormons; two groups that don't do well are mainline Protestants and Roman Catholics. Kenda Dean's new book is called Almost Christian: What the Faith of Ou

Let's Get Neanderthal!
The Cave Man Diet, or Paleo Diet, is getting attention. (Nothing is said about Culver's at all.) The big omission, I have to admit, is that those folks were hunters -- using spears or smacking some rabbit upside the conk or grabbing a fish or two with their hands ... but that's what makes this diet

You have our thoughts and prayers.
Hospitals are no fun, and neither are back injuries. I pray for a complete recovery.
P.S. I am writing this from my wife’s hospital room. So the emotions are rather unmitigated here.

That he will completely soften my heart so that my love for others will be overflowing. I would like prayer for continual wisdom and obedience. I would like to pray for everyone that I know and don’t know, that Jesus will melt everyones heart and have them fall in love with him! World peace too!

I just got married about a month ago. We both have been married before and we both are christians and we love each other very much.
Please pray for us it came as a package deal. I have three cats and we moved to my husbands domain. He has never had pets or pets in the house. It is really hard to cope with this as it is like I brought three cats, which are like children sometime, and when they do somethng wrong I feel so bad and I do not know what to say. We need your prayers as we are older and we want this marriage to last forever. Right now I am in here with the computer and he is in the living room listening to the radio. He has had alot of horrible things happen to him but he does not let them go. Please pray he will have peace and forget the past. I have had a bad past too and it is kind of hard sometime and you bring your baggage into another marriage and it is hard to do. Thanks for praying for us.

Please pray that her Drs. appointment goes well this week, and that she doesn’t have to have surgery. Please also pray for my sister who is mom’s primary care giver, and who had health problems of her own. Thank you.

please pray for my recovery

I had my third back surgery about 7 weeks ago (double lumbar fusion). I am trying so hard to get back on my feet. The first surgery gave me a staph infection that went into my spine (osteomyolitis). This surgery I was very week. I have a daughter and husband that I love dearly (and a couple of 4 legged pups, they need their mom too) just want to get my life back. Please along with the economic struggles that we are all suffering these days, I just want to try to get back my life to help contribute to our household and our lives here. Nothing more nothing less. Please I know no one knows me but any prayers would be appreciated. Thank you so much. And Laura’s family I hope all is well. We all could use some prayers couldn’t we! Take care all and sorry for your struggles. Lisa

Please pray for my family and my heart to heal. I have been hurt by a family member so severely. This person stole money and betrayed me in a most horrific way. I am trying to be forgiving but it affected my whole family. She even hurt my innocent young daughter. Please, I want to give this to God and let go. Pray for me. Pray for her. She believes in no one and nothing but hatred. Her name is Julie. Maybe all your prays will guide her to God and away from the things she has been doing.
