It's not very fair of you to discuss football here. You know we don't have any pro football in Detroit.
Beinart's article in the Washington Post on culture wars is very well reasoned but it seems to me there is evidence that challenges his prophetic view that we are at the end of an era. Over the past century there are cycles that reveal things don't really die they just hibernate for a season. To say that cultural issues will fade seems to hold water but that they will die is questionable.

Perhaps so. I know that the culture wars framing of the major issues in our country lost steam in this round of elections. It is becoming in some ways an old scare tactic instead of a pressing, primal sense of reality.
