This was the prayer for the morning prayers in Phyllis Tickle’s Divine Hours, originally in The Book of Common Prayer:

O God, you have taught me to keep all your commandments by loving you and
my neighbor: Grant me the grace of your Holy Spirit, that I may be devoted to
you with my whole heart, and united to others with pure affection; through
Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one
God, for ever and ever. Amen.?

Our Common Prayerbook 30 - 3
Psalm 30 thanks God (vv. 1-3, 11-12) and exhorts others to thank God (vv. 4-5). Both emerge from the concrete reality of David's own experience. Here is what that experience looks like:Step one: David was set on high and was flourishing at the hand of God's bounty (v. 7a).Step two: David became too

Theology After Darwin 1 (RJS)
One of the more important and more difficult pieces of the puzzle as we feel our way forward at the interface of science and faith is the theological implications of discoveries in modern science. A comment on my post Evolution in the Key of D: Deity or Deism noted: ...this reminds me of why I get a

Let's Get Neanderthal!
The Cave Man Diet, or Paleo Diet, is getting attention. (Nothing is said about Culver's at all.) The big omission, I have to admit, is that those folks were hunters -- using spears or smacking some rabbit upside the conk or grabbing a fish or two with their hands ... but that's what makes this diet

That is the collect for this week in the BCP–I’ve been enjoying praying it and it makes me think about (and say) the Jesus Creed. Very nice!

Sometimes, we have to stop in the middle of our day and just say Thank You Father for all that you done for us, whether it’s to meet the mortgage payment, purchasing food, to be able to lay our heads at night after a weary day, Problems that plague us and he smoothed them out so that we can stop worrying. Sometimes, you are able to help others and sometimes they are able to help you. He is truly a devine father and he have spread blessing down upon us so many times, that we just have to just stop at any given moment and say “Thank You Father for everything, in the name of your son Jesus, Father God, Thank you” Amen
