I can’t speak to the second book, but I must agree with the recommendation for the first. I took a course with Dr. Cohick a few semesters back, “Women in the NT and Early Church,” and the subjects of the chapters are very similar to the structure of the course. It was a eye-opening course, for sure, but I most enjoyed it because it was thought-provoking. Although I left the course pretty much in the same state of unsureness regarding women’s role in the Church today, I am certainly a TON more informed. I have read a chapter or two from her book, and I think that anyone who reads it will be similarly impressed with the information.

Thanks, Scott, for your kind comments about my Man and Woman, One in Christ. Its complete 255 page bibliography, supplemental studies (e.g. on Paul’s statements about slavery), and downloads of some of my articles are available free at http://www.pbpayne.com. The $29.99 book is available signed on the title page by the author for $17.75 at http://www.linguistsoftware.com/orders/orders.htm, listed alphabetically under both Windows and Macintosh products.
