“How you liking your first Rave?”

Not a scare tactic? Not a guilt trip? Are you kidding me?

Hah, I’d forgotten all about these! Ours was more of a “judgment day” thing…you’d go through, watch about five people die, go to God’s little Room of Judgment (it’s a standard feature in every heavenly mansion, I suppose) and a voice would sentence them to Heaven or Hell.

You’d see the bad boys dragged off into hell, and then you’d go in a dark room with chains, space heaters, and the smell of burning hair.

Next, we’d visit Heaven. And there were Cokes, bags of chips and candy. And angels, although they were creepier than any of the chained-up demon things from “hell”.

The last room was just a classroom, where they’d debrief you, I guess, and give you the usual “We’re saving you from Hell” speech, followed by the close-your-eyes, raise your hands drill. Although he worded his questions funny, so about half the room walked out heathen.

I love this movie. I first saw Hell House a few years ago when I was starting to break away from my fundamentalist upbringing, and showing the disastrous consequences that this type of Christianity can have had a pretty massive effect on my faith.

If you haven’t seen it yet, I would check it out.

Ah, what good little fundamentalist hasn’t had a hand in a Hell House at some point? The best I can say about the one I got volun-told to help with is that my part was before the bait-and-switch section in the second half, so I was just riding a scooter in a freaky clown costume, instead of performing a seance with Satan, or drinking Bud Light.

yeah this goes on way to much down in the deep south where I live. its just sickening, like watching that movie “Jesus Camp”

The documentary “Hell House” that this is from is super disturbing. And also interesting. Some of my students invited me to the on they were having at church. I had to respectfully decline. Way too my fear baiting for me.

Man, this is so frustrating. It’s stuff like this that makes me want to tell people about the real love of Christ. No manipulation, no guilt, just share the freedom, love, hope, and change he can bring.

This is some of the most disturbing, messed up stuff I’ve ever seen in my life. Probably more evil than the sins they’re trying to portray. Making a back to school special that makes a mockery of rape, gays, etc for shock tactics is disgusting. I think if there is a true judgement day, these people will be treated rather harshly.

Ugh. My stomach just turned. I’ve been to things like this before but I never really liked them. No wonder Christians get made fun of so much.
