Is he a free download or $.99?

I don’t get it. Apparently God is only in the app store because I couldn’t get it to download on the Android market.

I doubt God is as addictive as Angry Birds. Just sayin’.

Reminds me of the title of a sermon series at my parents’ church: “God has an app for that.” I only saw the bulletin insert about it and didn’t hear any of the sermons, but ugh! Makes it sound like God and Christianity are this convenient little device you could whip out conveniently to solve your boredom or perform some task, only to shut it off and throw it back in your pocket when you’re done.

Look at all the B.B. (Baptist Bullshit) trying to one up the Catholics.

I think it’s funny! It is emphasizing that forgivenes of sins doesn’t come from another person..but from God. Totally unexpected from a Baptist church…but still funny.

Are u sure this is their reaction to the Catholic app or just all the apps/app references in society?
And Matt – what’s with all the hate towards Baptists?
posted February 10, 2011 at 8:45 pm
My posts are not “hate.” They’re simply posts of what people send me or what i find online. I don’t hate Baptists. Or any denomination for that matter. While certainly, some of my posts offer a personal opinion about a topic, issue, theology, etc., the majority are not personal statements. They’re simply posts that meant to make us think, laugh, or change… And sometimes all of the above.

And this post made me laugh! lol. So thanks for that. I’m the Office Courier at a Baptist church and part of my job is putting up the cheesy marquee signs, so I get a real kick out of this.

mpt, i took it that lauren was talking about matt chaucer’s hate. could be wrong though.

Oh no, I wasn’t saying your posts had hate in them at all. That was a response to Matt Chaucer’s comment about “Baptist Bullshit” comment

I think he’s referring to the fact that many Baptists (fundamentalists, especially) claim the Catholic church isn’t really Christian. One of the biggest accusations is that Catholics teach works salvation, which isn’t true in many cases. Hypocritical, too, since these same Baptist expect you to follow a prescribed list of dos and don’ts; otherwise, you must not be saved.

I mean, I get the point they’re trying to make…. but really?

I think I would argue that whatever Theological errors may or may not exist within Catholicism, referring to God as an application is probably worse.
posted February 11, 2011 at 1:26 pm
I agree.
On a more serious note, it seems that a lot of the issues that many people have with Catholic theology stem from misunderstandings of that theology (like that with confession you receive forgiveness only from another person and not from God).
I’m not saying I don’t have my disagreements with the institution, though. Just that when people tell me I worship statues I’m very, very confused.

I was raised a fundie Baptist, they are some of most hateful people I know. Many fundies believe anyone who disagrees with them is either evil or stupid. Even wonder why there are so many Baptist churches around, sometimes of the same street? Because they can’t along with each other.
