I know very little about Japanese animation, mostly because I’ve never been much of a fan. (Hated “Speed Racer” when I was a kid).
However, from what I can tell, this is pretty well done. It kept my attention throughout, and I already knew the ending.
The sound is a bit off, but still, this is worth a look…

It was kind of inevitable since we had a manga version of the Bible quite some time ago. One nice thing about the anime format, though. Since it’s not seen as just kids cartoons they don’t pull any punches when it comes to depicting violence and the darker parts of humanity.

I really like this. I’m a big fan of the Message bible, and the Manga one is pretty amazing as far as graphical storytelling is concerned. This is horribly violent, but as it should be. I winced a few times, and looked away near the end.

anime video’s love violence. this is way to into blood and gore.
and finally, ending in the sort of platonic bull squat that guilds blogs like this.
so shallow, so very simple and shallow; so jesus goes to heaven when he dies? if they’d wanted to be scriptural, they’d at least send jesus to hell to “release the spirits” (1peter 3.19) or maybe speak to an even deeper mystery, Jesus, as fully god, is dies; God is dead.

Outstanding! Not perfect, not overly bloody, but still pretty good.
As for JESUS in Anime, we all know that “Kenshiro” of “Fist of the North Star” is JESUS + Bruce Lee.

I actually am part of the team that released this film as a way to reach current and future generations, I’m glad most of you liked it. It was done by an animation studio in Japan and with some of the same people who worked on Mulan. To answer the British voices comment, it’s that way because 1) we’ve found that some places are more hostile to American accented English than British, and 2) we’re actually using a voice track from a feature length live action film we’ve done in the past on the life of Jesus which is already translated into over 1100 languages. Lining up the anime with the live action enables us to easily have this same clip in those 1100 languages as well. Pretty neat planning by the creators, I think.
