Gov. Mitt Romney has filed papers to explore a White House run. I don’t think he will get there. And yes, it is because he is a Mormon. There is a simple reality at play here. Most evangelical Christians believe the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is a cult. That isn’t a political problem. It is a spiritual problem. I’ll write more as the weeks go past but Republican primary voters aren’t going to vote for someone they see as a member of cult to be President of the United States.

Back...
I'm back here at JWalking after a bit of time because I just want someplace to record thoughts from time to time. I doubt that many of the thoughts will be political - there are plenty upon plenty of people offering their opinions on everything political and I doubt that I have much to add that will

For the last ten months or so I've been engaged in a completely different world - the world of screenwriting. You are perfectly right…Mr. Romney’s LDS membership is a spiritual problem that will stop most evangelicals from voting for him.

Without doubt whatever LDS/Mormoism “is” it is not part of “the faith delivered only once to the saints.” Latter Day saint beliefs and system of belief is nothing that Jesus, Peter and Paul preached.Jesus is not related to Satan by celestial family-hood. God does not live on a planet near a star called Kolob. The Church did not fail and die out as as J. Smith declared “as a Prophet.” The founder of Mormon theology, Joseph Smith, declared a different gospel and a different Jesus. And it gets worse once you read the LDS Doctrine and Covenants and Peral of great price. That david Kuo or any other oerson is not knowledgeable about LDS/Mormonism, does not hide the truth about it. Now, should all that it bother a Christian voting for Romney as president? Yes.

We’ll see. Like you’ve said, the right is changing – several members of the religious right recently met with Romney and gave him a stamp of approval. Romney must take a page out of the Kennedy playbook and ease 2007 fears about being a mormon the way JFK eased fears about his allegiance to the pope in 1960…if he can do that, he’s got a chance. Bottom line is, that while the details of being a mormon are a bit sketch, the bottom line principles – family values, pro life and anti gay marriage are very close to traditionally Christian principles.

I am a Mormon and by definition every religion is a cult. Also a PBS Theology professer proclaimed at one time or an other every religion practiced poligimy. Mainly because of the shortage of men after wartimes.Their are no real Mormons that now practice poligimy. Only excamunicated ones in Colorado. People are such lamers. Remeber before the war in Iraq when Monarch Bush showed a nuculear missle and launcher? It was in black and white. Am I the only one to have noticed this. Fact more people think with emotions than their God given brain.
Sicerely,

p.s, I am moving to a free country soon.
Cult inexactly refers to a cohesive social group devoted to beliefs or practices that the surrounding culture considers outside the mainstream, with a notably positive or negative popular perception. In common or populist usage, “cult” has a positive connotation for groups of artistic and fashion devotees, but a negative connotation for new religious and extreme political movements. For this reason, most, if not all, religious and political groups that are called cults reject this label.
