posted by J-Walking | 10:06am Friday February 23, 2007

I’ll be interviewing John Edwards on Sunday for Beliefnet to kick off our interviews of presidential candidates. Email me or post comments with any questions you would like asked. I can’t promise I will be able to get to them all but I will try.

Back...
I'm back here at JWalking after a bit of time because I just want someplace to record thoughts from time to time. I doubt that many of the thoughts will be political - there are plenty upon plenty of people offering their opinions on everything political and I doubt that I have much to add that will

Learning to tell a story
For the last ten months or so I've been engaged in a completely different world - the world of screenwriting. It began as a writing project - probably the 21st Century version of a yen to write the great American novel - a shot at a screenplay. I knew that I knew nothing about the art but was inspir

I have, I think, just one more round of chemo left. When I go through my pill popping regimen tomorrow morning it will be the last time for this particular round of drugs. Twenty-three rounds, it seems, is enough. What comes next? We'll go back to what we did after the surgery. We'll watch and measu

A Newfie for Obama
NPR asked me to do a short memo to the president-elect. I chose to do it on the dog he should choose... and why. Check it out.

How about these: How do you reconcile your efforts in ’04 to run a positive campaign with the overwhelming negativity perpetuated by your former bloggers? Why, if the cornerstone to your campaign is “Two Americas,” one rich, one poor, do you live in such a lavish house? Why not spend that money on relief instead of yourself?

My wife Debbie and I enjoy reading your posting, thank you for them. My question would more be an area of questions. Will the planet ever have one government, one armed force, there by saving alot of money, and should we start to talk and think of this evenuality. A side note, I have meet your father and mother through my father-in-law Theron Nelson and have enjoyed talking with them. John Kraft

What leads you to believe that as a former trial lawyer, you are qualified to be the chief executive of the United States? How will you deal with North Korea?

What about: If you were the president today, what would you be doing to stop the genocide in Darfur? Is it a choice between doing nothing and military intervention? If sanctions are seen as a possibility, would you consider sanctions against countries that support the Sudanese regime — for example, China?

Matt’s question about Edwards’ house is critical. Please ask it.

What – specifically – will you do to 1. insure those who have had serious childhood illness – it is almost impossible to get health care coverage for such a young adult. 2. deal with the education crisis – not the school one – the one where young people are granted degreed and diplomas without skills or knowledge. Courses appear harder, but scores and actual knowledge is way down 3. solve the crisis of rural and urban schools – 4. bring corporations and individuals into a common goal – for saving the planet 5. Heal the lack of good will toward the US that has come about as a result of an arrogant and imprudent administration So many questions, i cannot even go on. Big question – how do we heal this false dichtomy created by media and religious extremists so that the government can work.

I’m tired of you telling us that your father worked in a textile mill. What about the giant mansion you live in now? As a Christian, I find myself appalled that you did not FIRE those bloggers. What of it? Somebody else asked this already, but what would you do about the Sudan? I want a real answer, not some nonsense. What will you do to stop the hemorrhage of jobs and wealth going to China and India?

I have a hard time endorsing a trial lawyer whose money comes from bilking doctors in malpractice suits. I am a doctor myself, and my insurance rates are ridiculous because of people like you. Sometimes I feel I would be better off doing something else for a living.

You should be talking with Mitt Romney. His political influence has just helped outlaw parents from their own children. The Gay Agenda and its powerful financial, legal and legislative backing has just thrown out parents rights for their children, for the needs to indoctrinnate “children” into the Gay life. Don’t waste time on a Democrat who’ll go no where, but back to his mansion when this is all over. Highlight a horrible prospect that Romney and his Massachusetts record could be in the White House. massresistance.org is trying hard to save our countries children and habe a record of Romneys actions. Interview and expose Romney not Edwards.

Yeah right.Romney and his world come home to roost: The massresistance men and women are in for a very tough fight from Romney’s legacy.Of course, Edwards believes like Mitt does. Reality though, will not be hidden. http://www.massresistance.org/docs/articles/new_oxford.html If you are to ask Edwards questions, ask him some from this article.

You know, if John Edwards was the second coming – most of you would have despised him simply for being a progressive. he’s a decent man who thinks hard issues through. Whenever I hear trial lawyer, or bilking doctors or such nonsense – I recall my years in medicine and the fact that doctors protect one another to such a degree that very poor and impaired physicians kill and maim people. I once reported a doc for being drunk as he made rounds at 8 am. He wrote orders that could have killed a patient had I not known to ignore them and call my supervisor. Yet, I was the one the other docs went after. Balance is the key word here. Doctors and hospitals start taking care of their own problems and such trial lawyers will not be necessary. Bilking doctors – insurance companies do that – not because of settlements, but because of remarkably poor investments. You guys want to connect A and B to make the rest of the alphabet o this issue. C – someone is hurt and what do we do to prevent that in the future is pretty much the only connection. Edwards is probably not the best choice at this point, but I can see him growing and he sure as heck has more wisdom and ability than someone like Rudy. Ask real questions of Edwards – not those guaranteed to make you feel smug.

We need some serious legal reforms in this country, including tort reform. Through the last 5 presidential elections, trial lawyers have been one of the largest money sources, attempting to block reform. In 2004 Edwards received a lot of that money. Does he believe reform is needed? Can he lead it if he accepts that much funding from this special interest again?
