David Kuo has been walking with Jesus for more than 20 years, during which time he has served as special assistant to the president in George W. Bush’s White House, policy director for Sen. John Ashcroft, and speechwriter for a gaggle of conservatives (plus a few liberals here and there). He is the author of “Tempting Faith,” a book about God and politics, and is currently the Washington editor for Beliefnet.com. I think people like you, my daughter, Elizabeth Edwards and Tony Snow manage to live life better than many. Each day is a joy – nothing can be taken for granted and best of all – when others see the way you live – they say – I want some of that and it is contagious – the joy – not the cancer. The other night at the dem debate – I saw Elizabeth Edwards and was amazed at her energy and grace. She has not been out of my mind much these days. She sits there with my prayers for my daughter and for David and now for Tony Snow. We are quite connected by such prayer. Just try to call someone you pray for daily – a SOB or a “liberal” or a conservative. They are human beings who live on the cusp of living at all. Like almost magic creatures as they show us how to do that. I don’t even like Tony Snow and all I can think of is his wife and family and how much they love him and it is enough.
