Kurt Warner, Pt. 3

Wednesday October 17, 2007

Categories: Faith

As Larry Parker notes, the news out of Arizona is that Kurt Warner's injury is less serious than feared and that means he might actually play on Sunday (my fantasy football team will be pleased although I didn't actually pray for his healing).

The results of the MRI exam were clear: Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner has a torn ligament in his left elbow... The ligament should heal on its own, so Warner won't need surgery, a Cardinals spokesman said. Because the injury is in Warner's non-throwing arm, he hopes to return soon and could practice today.

Answered prayers?

David, professional sports injuries are notoriously hard to diagnose. If we want to say G-d is confusing the doctors, fine; otherwise, no miracle here.

Look, I want to clarify -- I wasn't making fun of Kurt Warner's religiousness per se, or even the fact he prayed over the injury. (It did seem, for a brief time, career-threatening, after all.)

Rather, it was that he prayed for a SPECIFIC OUTCOME -- something I was taught in second or third grade CCD never to do ...

His life will be a long and happy one, insh'allah.

Larry - never thought you were making fun... just think this whole thing is interesting...
