I found out Thinker was going to be in Iowa over the weekend and prevailed upon her to give a report on the political happenings. She obliged: 48 hours of Iowa Democrats has made me a believe in one thing....
Thanks for posting this. It's so helpful to hear from someone who witnesses the whole thing unfold, sitting through all seven hours.

I second Trish. And miss Iowa. Although when I lived in Iowa I paid next to no attention to politics. Sounds like the average intelligence increased when I left.

By the way, "Thinker in Iowa" should not be a headline.

I stopped reading at "48 hours of Iowa Democrats."
Like we need propaganda?

Donny,
You can't fairly judge if you won't even listen to it or read it.

Thanks, Thinker.
From media reports, apparently that Obama speech was, as you mentioned, quite a stemwinder.

If some third party independent would have went to the Iowa Democrat Entitlement Fest, there would be some value in seeing what "somebody" thought. Haven't we had enough jaded and perfection painting, Democrat-selling, Liberalism promoting, socialist indoctrinating reporting from those soldout members of "The Left" at CNN, NBC, CBS, PBS, MTV, HBO, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Vanity Fair, Cosmopolitan, Penthouse, Playboy, PFLAG, GLSEN, LOGO, Soulforce, God's Politics, Beliefnet.com, etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc.?
Seriously, we needed a hyper Leftist to tell us how wonderful "48-hours of Iowa Democrats" was, through the eyes of a "Progressive?"
Notice Leftists will never fast from politics, but objectivity is soemthing that put to rest with ease.

Donny:
If Beliefnet is hopelessly liberal as you say, why do you stay?

Donny: You know PFLAG (an amazing group) and GLSEN, wow. Do you spend alot of time reviewing Penthouse, Playboy and LOGO? Or do you limit your smut intake to Fox "News"?

James,
Lot knew all about his environment and all of the groups forcing their sick agenda on he and his family. So unfortunately I know all about PFLAG and GLSEN because they are so much like Lot's neighbors. Pederasty has always been popular among the educated elite. Penthouse and Playboy? Too tame for me back in my secular life. It's all about following the advice of the Apostles NOW. LOGO? It's why I do not have Direct TV and have Dish instead. My kids get enough attempted indoctrination from TV commercials and the insidious sneaky gay messages in movies. But, know that I have Bravo blocked. Fox News I watch it as I do CNN and MSNBC. Fox is cool because the Libs and Progs reel in howling pain because someone exposes them for what they are, and Fox only has to let them talk and not be edited for idiots. Fox is like garlic to a vampire in regards to the Lib/Prog Agenda.
And Larry, nice try.

Oh, and James,
I find Jude's advice, which i try to follow, sound. I understand he learned his lessons from a good source.
A call to persevere:
But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold. They said to you, "In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires." These are the men who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit.
But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit. Keep yourselves in God's love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.
Be merciful to those who doubt; snatch others from the fire and save them; to others show mercy, mixed with fear—hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.
To him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy— to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore!
Amen.

C'mon James, it sounds like Jude could have written that yesterday.

I live in Iowa and have been trying to hear the candidates when they come within 20-25 miles of the small town where I reside. I couldn't go to the event Saturday in Des Moines but did see most of the speeches on CSPAN. To confirm what Thinker said, most of the speeches were similar to what I have heard them say before in their standard stump speech. I've been able to see the Democratic candidates with the exception of Clinton and Biden. I would like to hear some of the Republicans but when they have been in the area at times when I would be able to attend, the events are always billed as fund raisers and with my income where it is, I prefer to give my donations to my church.

It wasn't a "try," Donny, it was a sincere question.
Why torture yourself?

Your caring is so touching Larry. I continue precisely for the reason that you cannot understand Jude. You asked a Christian a question, and I gave you a Christian reply. I actually wrote to David and said I would leave, as my voice is silenced often by this computer program Beliefnet.com has employed to edit out my responses. I usually get through about 70% of the time. If I write too much or use too many keywords, I get sent to cyberspace. It's fascinating to watch what's going on to our world. It's even better interacting with its destroyers. The disciples never quit. The Bible, so impressive a work. Now the Liberal Dems are good guys? This is amazing to watch.

Sarcasm is Christian? I'm as sarcastic as it gets (though not always -- you assumed it of me earlier), and even **I** know that's not true ...
Or maybe you meant "Hey Jude," not the Book of Jude. And maybe David can extend his exegesis of U2 to the Beatles.
