I got it wrong on the McCain commercial. It wasn't actually a McCain campaign commercial. It was something a supporter put together as a kind of tribute.
My thoughts on "higher power" talk remain the same.

An Apostle on higher power:
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
He was in the beginning with God.
