Back...
I'm back here at JWalking after a bit of time because I just want someplace to record thoughts from time to time. I doubt that many of the thoughts will be political - there are plenty upon plenty of people offering their opinions on everything political and I doubt that I have much to add that will

Learning to tell a story
For the last ten months or so I've been engaged in a completely different world - the world of screenwriting. It began as a writing project - probably the 21st Century version of a yen to write the great American novel - a shot at a screenplay. I knew that I knew nothing about the art but was inspir

And just one more
I have, I think, just one more round of chemo left.
When I go through my pill popping regimen tomorrow morning it will be the last time for this particular round of drugs. Twenty-three rounds, it seems, is enough.
What comes next? We'll go back to what we did after the surgery. We'll watch and measu

A Newfie for Obama
NPR asked me to do a short memo to the president-elect. I chose to do it on the dog he should choose... and why. Check it out.

Oh, I swear it is painful to read this some times. But like a drug I just keep coming back for more…
Huckabee vs. Rudy? You think Huck more presidential? I physically cringed when I read that. Huck played it safe and wanted to quote others instead of coming up with his own lines. At one point I said out loud “get on with it.” I just said the same thing when Hillary talked for 3 minutes and never answered the question. Rudy is strong and assertive. Period.
McCain Vs. Romney?? I liked McCain before tonight. With the exception of his weaker than weak immagration stance. Tonight he sort of grossed me out. I have picked up over the years that temper flare. Not cool.. Tonight it spilled over and I didn’t like it. Whining about $$ and attack ads. Blah Blah. Nobody likes them but it’s a part of politics. Bet your last dollar that they either have run them or will. There just pissed bcs Romney can afford them. Romney knew his facts, was prepared and McCain’s attempt to blast Romney made him look like a school yard bully.

I feel that I can answer, since I don’t have a dog in the hunt (I will vote for whichever Democratic candidate emerges); by far, McCain seemed the most presidential, even if, at times he did resort to bullying tactics. Romney is inauthentic, Guiliani a joke, and Huckabee unprepared.

You are right on Nabruski. All the republican candidates are envious of Romney because he has the money to be the last man standing when it is all over. Romney is going to stay in this race until the end, and that is what has McCain, Huckbee and Rudy scared to death.

Ron Pual won & we’re all the losers because he doesn’t have a prayer of being nominated in the Republican Arm-Chair Fox News Party System.
He nailed the fixed cost of oil associated with gold on the head.
Republicans (as National Review pointed out) have been worse than Clinton on spending since 2000. Our debt and deflated dollars have taxed us at the pump.
Bush already beat the war-drums for Iran again in his weekly radio address while the situation in nuclear Pakistan festers. Watch for the candidates to line up again as well.
One-trick-pony Rudy went as far to say that terrorists are an existential threat to the U.S. I grew up in the Cold War and see that statement as evil. God help us if Rudy does get elected and we’re attacked. He’ll probably turn into an authoritarian anti-Christ.

David, when are you going to answer these Demologues infesting your blog? They denounce Republicans on terrorism? We will all be watching our “Progressive” Democrats eating cous-cous and lamb with Islamic leaders “talking with them,” while Jihadists will be building builing terrorist camps that number in thousands. Even more than when Bill gotta-get-laid Clinton was running his bath-house in DC. Islamic terrorists laugh in glee about “Progressives,” precisely because they know that they are more concerned with lowering the age of sexual consent, and coming up with more Hollywood awards shows, than the are concerned about their own society. David, you have a stage to speak on the truth. Please do it. Democrats are weak on terrorism and strong on pederasty and socialism. It is time for you to promote moral decency and that means exposing Democrat “Progressives” and Liberals” for what they truly are. Is it so hard to speak the truth?

Who cares who “seemed more presidential”? Isn’t voting for president about implementing policies you’d like to see implemented?
And Donny, if you ever got past regarding your hatred for Muslims and liberals as a moral compass, you’d realize that a GOP-dominated government failed to capture Osama bin Laden, and created a hell-on-earth in Iraq that recruits and trains terrorists. And you’d learn what “socialism” is. But you don’t want thought, work, or results– you want rhetoric. You crave being told who to hate.

I watched both debates – and nobody looked vaguely presidential among the Republicans. I really want someone to appear capable in both parties. Perhaps we’re used to a president who has no ability to act in a dignified and thoughtful manner and perhaps they are modeling off of the last 7 years. But it was sad.
Dems fared somewhat better – appeared thoughtful, well informed, not quite so petty (although pettiness did find its way into that debate). Obama appeared most presidential but I was a bit disappointed in a couple of his responses. Clinton appeared capable, but a bit too eager to destroy. Edwards looked as pissed off as ever and Richardson – well – the man is bright, but unable to articulate that remarkable ability on TV. I want to feel that both parties will bring their best to this election. Then I can vote for someone instead of against someone.

Donny, Osama bin Laden endorsed George W. Bush in November 2004.
’9/11′ happened on the Republican watch- with 9+ months of Republican appointees failing to understand and act on the evidence. The Bush Administration was warned in complete seriousness by Berger and Albright in December 2000 that Al Qaeda was the prime danger internationally. With the July 2001 National Intelligence Estimate entitled “Bin Laden Determined to Attack US”. Americans under Republican direction have not caught a single important Al Qaeda person- it’s an absolute failure. (The Pakistanis have caught a few, that is all.) In Afghanistan Bush and Cheney used the war/anti-Taliban/anti-Al Qaeda plan created by…Sandy Berger and Bill Clinton. And as soon as the Bush people deviated from Berger’s plan, they failed there.
Republican “strength” on terrorism is, to state its essence, merely the acquiescence to paranoid distractions, with unashamed desire and actions to engage in extrajudicial killing. If you’re with that, I believe you are not actually a Christian.
Objective Republican credibility on ‘handling terrorism’: approval ceiling of 92% after 9/11/01 (8% blamed them for letting it happen) (3,000 killed), 68% after Republican failure at Tora Bora (late November 2001), 62% after the Madrid bombings (April 2004) (200 killed), 49% after the London bombings (July 2005) (60 killed).
If Al Qaeda attacks successfully in the West again, Republicans are utterly unelectable, because they have no credibility over 38% in any other policy realm. (The 49% number isn’t solid either, as older people die it seems to sink about 1% per year, though the noncredibility side also declines, leaving Undecideds until the next major event that collapses support.)
Social democracy and social laws conforming to the Equal Protection constitution guarantee are inevitable, Donny. The detritus of failed and failing traditionalism is what you see. Tradition-taught people inadequate at making the transition to the new, more liberal condition of society, of greater individual autonomy and responsibility and egality. Sadly, they often fall into that ignorant middle place between the two things, and that is pretended by people like you to be “liberal” when it is not.
But just because it is hard and you have not succeeded, and many others are not doing well either, doesn’t mean all hope is lost. The transition from paganism to Christianity was as hard or harder many centuries ago. The remaining pagans clung to tradition and idolatries and their many complicated and often inhumane rules they called their morality just as you do now. They too tried the then liberal new religion and failed, and came up with many sophistries and complaints and demonisms and occultisms to justify continuing of their reactionary ways and instituted injustices.

Thinker, you’re a sold-out Democrat. Of course you do not see correctly when looking at Republican candidates. You’ve got some nice guys on your side, but their positions are immoral (Christian speaking). Elvis, I learned my position about “liberals” by being one of them. Nothing is more hypocritical than a Liberal life and life style except of course for what a Progressive is. I know exactly what they are, in word and deed. Socialism, is now, a crafty neologism for Sodom and Gomorrah without a God. And, if I went to a Muslim country and even tried to be a Christian, their hatred for me would have me in prison or dead. I, at least allow them to live their anti-Christian, violent Jihadic lives without trying to kill them or convert them. (Why cast pearls to swine?) I oppose the war in Iraq, but not because of G.W. Bush, but because not one incredible American life is worth losing, for people that only know how to hate in religion and society. When have Muslims ever allowed others to live free???? You do have a history book handy I hope? You do value truth? Clinton had the better idea by using Tomahawks to do the fighting (Secularism speaking).

Donny, my grey-haired old mother just came home from a muslim country safe and sound and brought me a real cool fez, too. Hallelujah, we’re all God’s children.

Romney looked intelligent, poised and ready to be President. McCain has aged 25 years in the last eight. McCain 2000 would be pretty appealing now, but not this exhausted Kool-Aide-drinking shell of his former self.
Over all, the Republicans looked like a squabbling bunch of 8th graders.
How to distance oneself from the Doofus-in-Chief and his failed Presidency without looking like a disloyal turncoat, that is the question. The surge, the surge, all hail the “successful” surge!
Are there enough hypnotized peasants to elect a Huckabee? Are people scared enough to elect a thug like Rudy? Will Christian bigotry doom Mitt Romney? Hmmm.
My fondest hope is for *heh heh* the GOP sticking by its rightwing Christian identity and nominating Huckabee, who would lose to any Dem nominee.
Yep. He would.

“Hypnotized peasants?” So much for “The Left” caring about the people. Though once again, my views of the elitist being a progressive is wonderful to see proven. I love luring you people out into the open. Makes me feel like a shepard with his flock. Like I’ve said all along, Progressives are just a re-hash of hedonist Romans. Doug, I know about some Christian doctors and nurses that weren’t as lucky. Their bodies and their hair were returned to America and that is all. In fact, there are thousands of others being killed by muslims worldwide. Try as you like, you cannot hide Islamic violence. Jillian, Osama Bin Laden endorsed President Bush while he was hiding under a mountain in Afghanistan. When an appeasing and apathetic Democrat gets elected, Osama will be in Hollywood supporting that and leading prayers (forced prayers) at the local mosque. Jillian, Socialism is the trip to a mark on either the forehead or right hand. It is clear that the anti-Christ will dwell within and rise because of Socialism, as its aims are to make all just one lump “or else.” The secular-lemmings are lining up now. Their drive to a “one world” authoritarian ruler is not a myth. Sorry, as a former liberal, I can no longer be a part of the evil enveloping the world. “Do what thou wilt,” is not always a good thing, it is what pederast and progressive/liberal ideology has in union.

Well stated, SkipChurch.
PS — Donny, I’m a former conservative, so I guess we STILL cancel each other out
Though I’m sure you’d agree, none is more fervent than the convert …

Larry, you went to the enemy camp and I left it. OK. I’m sure the porn industry and GLSEN will be happy to hear of your membership decision, since it “cancels out” my cancellation notice. Your frankness is a bit refreshing. Progressives usually hide behind the facade of caring about others while implementing their S & G ideology. We both know that now huh? But please note, though I am still suffering the consequences of my days as liberal/progressive, I am maninly a social conservative politically (though Democrat taxation is satanic and communistic); and on Christian perspective, I follow the lead of Christ Jesus and His Apostles. It keeps me away from following Marxist socialism and Hollywood hedonism like I did as a progressive/liberal. Good luck and beware, (keep it down . . .) they can only treat some STD’s. Oh, and I’ll pray for you when I get the time. Which of course is right now:

Hmmm …
I hate the porn industry, pedophilia, Satan, “S&G” (whatever it is, I’m sure it’s bad), Communism, Marxist socialism, too-high taxes, Hollywood hedonism and STD’s as much as you do, Donny.
Oh, and I most definitely care about others. (Granted, we’re all imperfect/sinful, but I try.)
How do you suppose THAT’S possible?
Maybe because I render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s, and render unto G-d what is G-d’s.
